  1. Questions on towing with the Jeep Gladiator, non diesel

My trailer is about 5800lbs and I keep speeds at 55 mph, 58mph tops. I feel I am at the max for the Rubicon. I let the auto transmission choose the gears for the most part. I never see 8th gear. On level ground it’ll occasionally be in 7th. Hills will cause it to downshift to 4th, sometimes 3rd...
  2. Bought a bigger camper

5800lbs is as loaded weighed in a CAT scale. The GVWR is 6200lbs. The unloaded weight is around 5000lbs. I never weighed it that way so I’m estimating. If you don’t wiegb it unloaded you never really know because the trailer always has options and the manufacturer only quotes the unloaded...
  3. Bought a bigger camper

Cool. I thought you might be like me and have a Rubicon or some other less tow capable model. Your setup is like mine. You’re pushing near the limits but not over. I have a Rubicon and a 5800lb trailer. I just came back from a trip to Anza Borrego State park. The elevation profile is 700...
  4. Bought a bigger camper

Have you checked all of your numbers? Your trailer is likely 6610 lbs loaded assuming, you load it like the former trailer. Add a spouse, two grandkids 3 dogs, trailer tongue weight, truck options like the 37 inch tires and you are well over the truck’s Gross Weight Rating. You’re probably...
  5. Your thoughts on towing this

The 5,000lb GVWR trailer is getting you in the ballpark but it's more complicated than just the truck tow rating and the trailer's weight. The JTRD has a GVWR that tells you the maximum loading for your truck. GCWR is the Gross Combined Weight rating for your truck and the trailer. You have...
  6. Your thoughts on towing this

You don't have enough margin to your tow rating to tow that trailer. You should consider the GVWR of the trailer as the weight you need to tow and then your tow rating should exceed that number with a decent margin(10-20%). The trailer GVWR is likely the weight of the trailer once you load it...
  7. Wandering Wheel on a Stock 2023 JT Rubicon?

Dang. I just checked my files and I can't find that repair order. All I remember is the repair order stated that they adjusted the toe settings to spec.
  8. Wandering Wheel on a Stock 2023 JT Rubicon?

No parts were swapped. They adjusted the toe settings.
  9. Wandering Wheel on a Stock 2023 JT Rubicon?

I had a similar experience with wander on my new 2023 JTR, although maybe not quite as bad because I never thought it was dangerous. After a few months hoping it might be a tire break in issue I had the dealer check it out. The alignment was out and they readjusted it. That corrected my problem.
  10. Auto Tranny Holds Gears Way Too Long

I have a ‘23 Rubicon and have similar experiences. Mine seems to hang onto lower gears longer than I would’ve thought too. However, my mileage is slightly better than yours. I am getting around 16 mpg in normal driving. I am interested if anyone has answers to your questions!
  11. Towing 7000# Yamaha FSH 255 Sport H

I bought my travel trailer before I bought my JTR. If one has to go then it will be the trailer! Sales people will always tell you that your truck can do it. They want the sale. My trailer is about 5,800 lbs loaded. When I went to a CAT scale to check things out I found I was right at...
  12. HYDRO BLUE PEARL Gladiator JT Club

Very rare to see white wheels. Those have a Jeep center cap too. Where did you get them?
  13. Towing 7000# Yamaha FSH 255 Sport H

There are basically 2 numbers to worry about: GVWR and GCWR. Assuming your trailer has a tongue weight of 700lbs (it might be higher) you already exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating with all of those accessories you’ve added, and you and your passenger’s weight. With a 7000# trailer you also...
  14. More runaround on the 4xe transmission

Just thinking about the possible causes for a gasket leak: Pan sealing surface defects Transmission case mating surface defects Gasket damaged Gasket material, thickness, or other design elements are wrong Pan defects in the bolt mating side preventing the the bolt flange or locking washer from...
  15. More runaround on the 4xe transmission

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you. Sometimes a gasket doesn't work when there is a defect in one of the two sealing surfaces such as burs or indents preventing the gasket to seal. But you know this. You said they already tried two pans. What about the transmission surface the pan...
  16. RV owners...any accessories you can't live without!?!?

I love my Anderson levelers and the Travelmate Pro. It makes leveling my trailer very easy. A backup camera is a must. At a campsite you might have a spotter but in a bunch of other cases it becomes useful in getting in and out of tight spots. I also rely on the wireless TST tire pressure...
  17. Tow capacity of 2023 Gladiator Rubicon w/ tow package?

As others have pointed out, it is 7,000 lbs for the automatic. It is also documented in the owners manual. If you don't have one then the owner's manual can be dowloaded from the Jeep website. The sticker in the door documents the payload rating for that specific Gladiator given all of its...
  18. Fully loaded and just under Payload.

As I understand it each model has a Gross Vehicle Weight rating that is determined by some engineering analyses likely supported with some tests for that model. Then the payload is the difference between that GVWR number and what each truck weighs. So they have to weigh each truck because that...
  19. Fully loaded and just under Payload.

OK, so the soft top does make a difference. I’ve never been able to get a definitive weight difference between the two.
  20. Fully loaded and just under Payload.

I was wondering about the appearance the sagging.... However, are you sure you're under payload? Three kayaks ~ 180 lbs one rack ~ 50 lbs tongue weight ~700 lbs one driver~ 175 lbs All total to 1,110 lbs. I looked at a few Mojaves and their payload was under 1,100 lbs, but they all had...
