  1. RTT owners, are you satisfied with..

I’m curious now about Roofnest. I didn’t do enough research apparently on all their models and wondering if they are all made in the USA. I would have given them my business had I known about the Condor. Their side opening clamshells are still very much like iKamper and the Chinese knockoffs...
  2. RTT owners, are you satisfied with..

Roofnest is made in the USA and is the straight up opening like a box. Torro is a clamshell like iKamper. As far as I could find in my research, Roofnest is the only made in the USA RTT. But I don’t like that design.
  3. Anyone done any kind of hood decal?

    Here are pics
  4. RTT owners, are you satisfied with..

I believe they are made in China (knock offs of iKamper)...same exact tent as Torro Offroad and at least one other importer branded differently and selling on eBay. I just imported one myself (knock off of the iKamper Skycamp mini). With the integrated awning, shipping, duty/tariffs and the...
  5. Anyone done any kind of hood decal?

I did my own plasti-dip like the bottom silver one. Taped it off to follow the contours identical to the one pictured. It was windy the day I did it and I ended up with texture I don't want and plan to redo it at some point, but it looks good and eliminates the hood glare on a white hood. I...
  6. Metalcloak lift

The zink isn't coating, the arms are made of zinc. The gold is a coating and will wear overtime.
  7. Black Friday deals...here we are again...share what you find

I agree, but some of the "major" 4x4 companies don't have that in their margins right now. I've met some of the site sponsors and others like them, and they are still pretty small operations that employ maybe 5-20 people at most and are manufacturing by hand most of their products and their...
  8. Remote start for Manual Transmission

Why do you park in neutral? I've driven a manual transmission for 30 years and rarely ever park in neutral, was just trained not. E Brakes can and do fail/slip. On a flat surface, no big deal but I've parked mine at idle to do things outside a few times on slight inclines and have had to jump...
  9. 6 Speed Manual Regrets?

I wasn't complaining, was comparing for the OP the differences he may experience in the MT vs AT...again, I've been driving MT for 32 years, I know what I was getting when I bought my MT Gladiator and it is my 3rd MT Jeep, 2nd Pentastar...I knew the capabilities of the engine and transmission...
  10. 6 Speed Manual Regrets?

I guess my earlier comment wasn't clear, I'm 44 and been driving a manual since I was 16...this isn't a matter of knowing when to shift and when not to. Different days, different hills, different winds, you name it can affect the performance of a vehicle...there are hills that I think I should...
  11. Pro tip: Leaving it in ACC mode for 4 days will kill both batteries

I agree, on several occasions after first starting the vehicle, I have had an annunciation stating ESS is not ready, so the aux battery is not the only thing that is used for starting, but some how does not always have a full charge for use with ESS. ESS will also not work until your engine...
  12. 6 Speed Manual Regrets?

The auto is meant to shift more for climbing hills, but it is done automatically, no clutch work, faster between the gears and such. No work load on the driver. It can be annoying when you approach a hill in 6th gear that you think you're going to get up without downshifting only to find nope...
  13. 6 Speed Manual Regrets?

I rarely go to 6th in my Rubi before 60+ mph and usually hold 4th until about 50+ especially on the highway, but I have driven a MT since I was 16 and I ride motorcycles. I still stall my Gladiator after 30,000 miles. I have a Ford Focus ST 6spd that I commute in and have never stalled it...
  14. Trans America Trail

That is good to hear, I am leaning towards the tablet as well, but didn't know what mapping app/software to use. So knowing Garmin Explore worked, will likely be my way to go. I have a CMM mount on my grab bar too for this same purpose. Not that I want to do a ton of video watching while on...
  15. Trans America Trail

This is why I am leaning towards a separate tablet and I've been looking at some commercial "rugged" ones. I think Sam has maps and roll charts, but I could be wrong, just going off of what I remember the last time I was on his site. I'm excited for the trip regardless and I don't mind getting...
  16. Power inverter for Jeep Gladiator

Thank you! You list CPAP in your devices that require pure sine which is of interest to me...I was trying to figure out whether I would use my CPAP on my two month cross country in the spring. Is the factory install inverter pure sine?
  17. Trans America Trail

I'm told with Carplay and the GAIA app, you can. GAIA can accept .gpx files and Carplay will display GAIA, so you should be able to do it. I haven't downloaded GAIA yet or bought the .gpx files, so cannot say with certainty. I had originally planned on running a separate Garmin for the .gpx...
  18. Power inverter for Jeep Gladiator

Would you say any winch? even a small ATV winch or would you start with something 5,000 lbs
  19. Power inverter for Jeep Gladiator

just picked up the last one in stock at a local AA...in the reviews and questions online, it is said to be "modified sinewave" which I honestly don't know what that means...the question was asked if it was sine wave or square wave. Being that it was originally $267, is it possible that it is a...
  20. 6 Speed Manual Regrets?

My ONLY MT regret is that it wouldn't pair to the ecodiesel. I had a Ram 1500 ecodiesel that I loved (140,000+ miles) and SO wanted a diesel Gladiator but I also wanted a MT and didn't want to wait a year for it. If I didn't already have about $8K in my build, I MIGHT want the diesel over the...
