So I've seen getting new tires referred to as getting "new shoes" for ones Jeep, that would imply the wheels / rims are the feet of your Jeep...
So if you get new wheels, did your Jeep get "new feet"? LoL
Over the weekend, discovered it's time for some new tires on the Jeep. As we tow a camper in the summer with the Jeep, and between us, gas, tongue weight of the camper, plus stuff tossed in the bed, well, weight matters, so I had to rule out AT tires.
I'm planning to put on a set of the BFG...
Right now I'm on the factory Dueler HT tires and I've probably still got another year or two before I have to start seriously looking at new tires. I'm researching NOW so when it's time for new tires, I'm ready to get what I want and need.
I do some light off roading, nothing radical, my...
Once or twice a year the wife and I take a weekend away, the hotel we stay at has an underground parking garage (IIRC, the clearance is listed as 6ft or so) and we've never taken the Jeep because I'm not certain it will FIT.
Now, her Forester with additional roof bars fits fine, I can walk...
Mods please note (and, everyone else) this is *NOT* a sales post, if I get to that point, I'll post down in the market, at the moment, I'm researching!
Removed my back seats almost two years ago to put in a storage system, and I'm tired of them sucking up space in my basement. Is there ANY...
Way back in July (wait.. That was only 2-3 months ago? Dang, where does the summer go?) I asked a question: "Am I just a wussy baby man, or was I smart (or at least cautious?)" At the time, I opted to not try driving the trail I was looking at on On-X...
Well, this past weekend the wife and...
With the new bumper, my old flag mount that clamped to the tow hook on the bumper wouldn't work anymore. Stopped in at the off-road park I'd gotten my safety flag and mount at to see if they had any suggestions (there's a little shop that sells this stuff right there.)
Fellow working the shop...
We've got a nice weekend coming up and I'm thinking of (finally) getting the top and doors off, at least for a couple days. I'm also bringing our camper home for some maintenance and was wondering, has anyone towed anything with the top and doors off?
Would that potentially have any issues...
Had been planning to go down a seasonal road / ORV trail in Michigan, OnX Offroad rates it as a 2/10 technical trail (so presumably, bit worse than a dirt road.) But, a few things gave me pause:
I can count on one hand the number of times I've had my Jeep off road and have 4 fingers left over...
OK, I'm going to be extending my wiring harness for my trailer brake controller so I can mount it up on the dash. The problem is, I can't figure out how the HECK to get the wiring harness that came with the trailer brake disconnected from the Jeep's wiring for the trailer!
It looks like it has...
I finally realized where I've got my brake controller mounted is not exactly the best, if I ever need to manually activate the trailer brakes (left side by the door, down low, so I have to lean down to activate.)
I don't want to buy a new controller that might mount similar to the MOPAR brake...
I've read that you should, if the line gets wet, pull it out (not all the way!) so your line can dry before spooling it back in. I've got a synthetic line (Harbor Freight Badlands,) and it's been raining. I don't have a winch cover, and my winch sits VERY low in the bumper so it's covered from...
Just picked up mine today to get ready for the spring / summer, but trying to decide where to put them.
The obvious place would be on the back window, but if I decide to take the top off and then go off-roading, well, then what?
So my next thought is to put them on the back bumper to the right...
Noticed after getting my new bumper installed, that the backside of the factory fog lights (non-LED) are very, very exposed. Like nudist beach exposed. I'm wondering if I should do something to at least partially protect / cover the back side of them, maybe jerry-rig a box out of plastic, or...
My hook (Harbor Freight hook that comes with the Badland 12k winch) is rattling and bumping! I want to minimize the noise, so as I see it, I've got two options and I'm trying to decide between them:
Buy a winch hook isolator and put it between the hook and the fairlead on the line
Pull out...
Right now I've got a "soft top" tonneau, but because of some of the items that occasionally go in my bed, I REALLY want to move to a "hard top" tonneau. Well, I also had the bright idea of getting a bed rack as a way to carry the wifes' and my bicycles when we go camping. Now, what I'm looking...
Yes, I'm kind of theming my Jeep, going black with red accents, and I'm looking for a hawse fairlead in red. I've poked on Extreme Terrain, I've poked on Quadratec, and all the ones in red are either out of stock, or don't exist...
Frankly, I'm contemplating just getting a raw aluminum hawse...
Got the bumper mounted, per the manufacturer the shackle mounts on it can "hold up to a 7/8" adapter" (direct from their site.) So I bought a pair of Harbor Freight 7/8" d-ring shackles in red. Well, as soon as I tried to put the shackle pin through the mount, it stopped right at the threading...
Monday my winch (and bumper) are getting installed and I'm going to be picking up some of the accessories one might need for winching. Such as D-Ring shackles and a rope dampener, but I'm debating a winch cover. The winch is the Harbor Freight Badlands 12K w/synthetic rope and from what I'm...
First some details on the Jeep itself:
Sport S w/Tow package
**NO** suspension modifications / lift / leveling kit / etc
Stock tires and wheels
OK, with that out of the way, wife and I were heading to a friends house, it's currently VERY cold out here (5F according to NWS,) Jeep was parked...
