Wow!! Guess that Claytonbardoes work, I couldn't even get my 37" Toyo M/T to fit when I ran them, Impressive you got a38" tire in there. I'm running a Nitto 38x13.5/R17 now but have my spare on top of my bed rack.
It’s my first post and hopefully it will be helpful for anyone who may be wondering if a38 will fit in the stock location.
as for the specifics, I do have aClayton off-road rear trackbar, and my tires are Toyo RT Pro 38x11.5 x 17”.

My 38x13.5x17 Toyo Open Country M/T barely fits in the stock location, even after installing aClayton Offroad trackbarand removing the exhaust heat shield. I'm sure the 38 would fit, but it would be closer to the exhaust pipe. It also would not hang down as far as the 13.5 does.

Reason for my question is because I got a set of 5 38” Patagonia Milestar...
EDIT: I did note some discoloring on the tire after a 5300 miles trip with lots of hard towing through the Rockies. Going to wrap the pipe in that areaand deflate for more clearance!!
For those who has said it couldn't be done, I present to you a38x12.50 Ridge Grappy on a Method 313 under the...
I have been waiting on this pics of this set up. I have the 37 x 12.50 x 17 Patagonia X/T for aspare. It is mounted on a 17 x 8.5 rim . I have not purchased the Claytontrackbar yet. I wanted to make sure it would fit. Can you confirm size and style Patagoniaas well the rim size. When...
