I met the service manager today and was pleased with how the discussion went. He has already ordered the trans skid plate which is what looks the worst, and is talking to their paint/body shop who would be the ones to devote further attention to it as far as treating the other affected places...
My Jeep is definitely an outlier. I was on three Jeep lots yesterday and looked under several 2024s, just like I did six months ago when I first discovered the rust three days after I bought it, and all of them looked great underneath.
I’ve lived in the two Carolinas (away from the coast) my entire life. Owned vehicles since 1972. Never seen a new vehicle that started life here with rust like this when new. Never even recall selling a used vehicle here that looked like that either. (Including the 2017 Ford truck with 110k on...
If I am reading your post correctly, you are suggesting that another new Jeep will look like mine inside a year or two. No one upthread had observed this kind of rust at any age if I recall all the posts correctly.
As a follow up, I’ve had the Jeep 7 months now, and was putting some Weather Tech mudflaps up front and noticed the rust was getting worse underneath. Crusty on lots of weld joints. I had already scheduled my first service for next week, but I honestly don't expect much in terms of what they...
Depends on what color your roof is. If a light color, this probably won’t matter but the roof on my Sport S is black.
I took delivery the last week of July last summer. The very first thing I did was install Hothead headliner panels because the NC summer sun was baking that black top, and...
I’m 6’3” and tall in the torso, too. I was wondering what all this was about hitting the soundbar, till I ran the flat of my hand behind my head and felt how close the soundbar is. Fortunately, the way I already had the seat adjusted it just hasn’t been an issue.
All the room I need, but not a...
I’m real happy with my 2024. If you borrowed to buy it, be sure you have gap insurance. Mine’s paid for, but not everybody can do that.
There’s little point in "Borrowing trouble" by worrying what it’s worth today versus sixth months ago, or six months from now.
You’ve got a retirement...
I bought a nearly identical Sport S this past July. Same colors, same options. I paid significantly more. It was discounted, but not like that. Congrats on a screaming deal..
I was in the car business for a short time many years ago. It was SOP for the sales manager to advertise at least ONE vehicle at a screaming price, and advertise that specific stock number long after it was sold.
The strategy is to get you on the lot, nothing more, nothing less.
I’ve hit two deer in my life, in large sedans, with a fair amount of damage to fender, grill, fog lights, headlights, hood...
Both were hit square on the left headlights. Many of the guards I’m looking at wouldn’t have had any effect I fear.
The radiator would be protected though, which is...
I was just looking for a new small truck and didn’t want a turbo four banger that most of the 2024’s all seem to have.
Ended up in a new JT and have been a lot happier than I even imagined I would be, coming out of an F150 5.0 Super Crew FX4.
Yes. Plus both sides of the spare tire rim.
The more I think about it, it won’t be that hard to correct what is visible. It just really spooked me to see the rust at all on a “new” vehicle. Especially when everything else on the lot looked great underneath.
My expectations will be low. I’m just thinking that I want them to see the rust before I hide it.
The more I look at it, the worst pictured is on the bolt-on skid plate that could be replaced worst case, and some scuffs on the frame that are fairly superficial. And the steel spare tire rim...
So does it make any sense to at least go on record with my dealer’s service department when I go in for my first service to point out this rust so they can see it first hand?
Before doing any of what has been discussed up thread.
