  1. Who Has Just The Soft Top????

A couple of notes- Besttop makes the OEM so it's very unlikely that there will be a decent aftermarket one from them anytime soon, I bought mine hoping to find an aftermarket Trektop like I had in my JKU- no dice, also Best top is on this forum somewhere and they talk about the engineering and...

  4. Soft Top Storage and Removal-

I've been meaning to post this for about a month, but better late than never. I have both tops, but being in Tx, the hard top is normally the one hanging in the garage as the convertible weather is at least 9 months out of the year. I want to share my experience in taking the top off and...
  5. Who Has Just The Soft Top????

It takes about 20 minutes to totally swap the tops out. Easy as pie, a dozen bolts and its off- I do the whole thing by myself, but I have a Lange hoist in my garage. Honestly I took off the hard top 3 weeks after I got the truck in April and just put it back on after Christmas, I''l take it off...

  7. 37 regrets

I guess it depends on where you drive. I had a 4 inch lift on my JKU with 35's couldn't fit in many parking garages, but the biggest PITA was the parking garages at Bush. I had 2 inches of clearance in my home garage with my JKU. With my JT, I lifted 2.5 inches, but found that have 1 inch of...
  8. Overland with fox Rubicon shocks giving me hollow clunk sound while going over larger bump

My JKU did the same thing and I had to get one of my shocks replaced, also it may be a loose control arm or bushing from the lift. Check the tightening on the bolts from the lift.
  9. Why the Overland

By the third or fourth model year- there will be the volume to make a profit off non OEM tops- right now there are to few to make it profitable. Jeep was smart outsourcing the soft top to BestTop OEM, it locked them down and it means that subsequent knock offs (like Rugged ridge) etc are now...
  10. Why the Overland

Its purely aesthetics, its a different options package without adding any additional functionality over the Sport S. I bought mine because I got the Matched Fenders and Top, Leather, electronics and a more luxurious interior and exterior look without having to pay extra (bigger rims/tires...
  11. MotorTrend 2021 Gladiator Review - Terrifying Towing?

Towed a large self propelled Scissor lift last week (should have taken pictures). Total weight was about 5200, probably had a bit more tongue weight than I would have liked because of the forward securing on heavy tilt trailer. No issues, towed only on flat roads, but had no problem. No Weight...

  15. Sky One Touch Power Top for JT...

And people think the soft top looks bad open..... this would be really ugly (bear in mind that the front panels are anything but flat).
  16. Sky One Touch Power Top for JT...

Half the comments on here are describing how the factory soft top works- the sides and back window come off very easily, leaving the top center section only- Pull the doors off and you have just a safari top......
  17. Driving in sand tutorial (Outer Banks, NC)?

Not sure about those beaches, but in TX the sand is like pavement- Camrys, BMWs, you name it its on the beach. Most of CA- you better have 4wd aired down and at least 6 inches of ground clearance. IF you are deserting or Duning it- 15 lbs is probably best (for ref, I run 8-10lbs on the Rubicon...
  18. Why is Overland the only model to have 18's?

Random: I never noticed that the seatbelt sticker on the JT is a JLU.
  19. Why is Overland the only model to have 18's?

I'll agree that the Overland is the least popular trim for a few reasons and the differences are much higher than 2k. The Overland has a base price of 2k less than a stripped Rubicon on the sticker, but who pays that? The issue comes when time for turnover on the lot. Everyone wants a Rubicon...
