The other vehicles are Ford/Lincoln, so ecoboost. Thanks for the info. I'm going to hope that the flash and parts replacement has fixed the problem and I'm just overly sensitive at the moment. Time to put some miles on the rig.
For me the odd thing is I did the same 9 mile loop in three of my vehicles and the Jeep was the only one that any misfires. But, the other 2 were 4 cylinder turbos. On one cylinder I had 3 misfires in the driveway while it was idling before I even put it in gear and moved.
Has anyone that believes the problem has been fixed or never had the problem run misfire logging? I'd like to know if these low numbers are now in the acceptable range. While the steering was being fixed I asked the dealer to check for misfires again because I still see them, although at a...
Those numbers look more like before they worked on mine. I'm happy mine are so much lower but it seems odd that there should be any. Have they made any attempts to correct your misfires?
How many misfires are to many? This is from a 6.5 mile trip up to the store. The numbers were a little lower on the return trip. This is after the flash and replacing parts. I have not gotten a CEL or ESS light since the update but I have had times I would feel a stumble. Decided to log and...
Define "perfectly driveable". My Jeep is drivable below 40 MPH. Get above that, say on the highway, and the wander becomes harder to correct and dangerous. I will not drive on the highway and my wife won't even get behind the wheel after her first attempt.
Visit #2 completed. They replaced lifters, rockers, both cam shafts, phazers and oil control values. Drove it home and no ESS or CEL. Fingers crossed this does the trick for my issue.
Interestingly enough I've had the misfire and vehicle rough idle with it in park sitting at a scrap yard while I was taking stuff out of the bed. It was running fine and then I could feel the bed bouncing around. When I finally got back in the truck my wife mentioned that something strange...
Took mine up for trip #2 today. Was hopeful that it was just the flash and done. Got a call this afternoon that they ordered parts and they are a week out. Guess it was worse than I thought. :(
Here is the old part, rotated so it is easy to read but this is really upside down. But, if you have a 2020 then you should have the one that seems to have known issues.
I noticed it by 300 miles. Wife refuses to drive it because of the steering. I might have been spoiled by my previous cars but the way it sounds it will only get worse so I asked to have it fixed. Parts are on order. Now it is just a waiting game for them to arrive.
If the bit about this being a manufacturing defect caused during the robotic cylinder boring process then you would think FCA would know:
Which milling machine(s) had the issue
How long the issue was present
Which engine serial numbers rolled off the line with the defect
Why so long to...
They cleared the code, opened a STAR case and told me to pick it up while they wait for a fix to be released and the steering parts to arrive to fix the wandering issue. Trip 1, unsuccessful.
I've noticed the ESS messages since I got the vehicle on 8/11/2020. I've also noticed hesitation/miss-fires when at low speed and not fully warmed up. Yesterday was the first time I got the CEL. SOOO excited I get to play this game. =(
