JTR Diesel did great towing up the cajon pass on our way to Dumont dunes. Total weight was probably around 4500-5000 pounds. Highest grade was 6% climb, at one point oil temp got a little past the halfway mark on gauge, but slowed it down and it kept up at around 50 mph. Overall averaged 13.5 mpg.

Iām keeping the JTRD and J10 long term, but still miss that LJ!
Iām planning on installing my Clayton 2.5 HD rear springs soon. I also have an empty bed other than a truck bed rubber mat. Iāll let you know how much rake it gives me. I have a 1.5ā teraflex kit upfront along with the Clayton diesel hd springs which gives it about .5ā lift if anything.
Clayton makes a specific to diesel HD front spring, itās advertised as 1.5ā lift but since you have the diesel and added weight it should be just enough to level it out. It also helps with the bottoming out of the front end issue with these diesels.
The Clayton springs Rusty mentioned worked great for me. I used to bottom out constantly, and the springs fixed that. Gave me about 1ā additional lift in the front.
I would keep it personally, I have the 21 as well. Only issue I had was a timing chain cover leak which was covered under warranty and HPFP recall. Other than that 28k miles no issues. Average 22-23 with 2.5ā lift and 35ās. But it all depends on your needs/use.
Whatās your difference in gap between top of tire and fender?(front and rear) I have the Clayton diesel front springs which raise it about 1ā along with a 1.5 level kit. Iām curious if I will be level after installing the rear HD 2.5 triple rate springs.
The biggest factor towing with the diesel will be the overheating issue. Small light loads up a steep grade at 100 degrees is probably not an issue. But once you start getting to itās limits on the same situation with a TT you will probably see the temperatures climb.
I was towing my sxs the...
25k miles on my 2021 JTRD. The only issue Iāve had is the timing chain and valve cover gasket replaced under warranty due to it seeping. But Iām still getting some oil, Iām wondering if itās the cam position sensor?
Yeah it was a headache, if you take it and go through something similar I would advise you to contact jeep customer care. They have the ability to expedite parts and offer extended warranties. They gave me 5 years of āmax careā warranty because of my situation.
