I'm 31, I do not expect to have this Jeep the rest of my life. I will enjoy it for as long as I can, or until life changes and something else is needed, and not worry about keeping it perfect for decades. There is no point in having a vehicle this fun if you never use it to have fun.
I weirdly have very little desire to modify mine. When I got my TJ the first things it got were a lift, wheels, and tires but the JT....I just enjoy it. I don't get off road much and I use it as a truck to move large loads (towing a new toy home this weekend), nothing that I need it to be...
Not bad at all. In my second car if I roll just the rear windows down the air hits a percussive resonance that feels like it will blow out my ears. The JT does none of that. The wind noise over the top is more than what I can hear from inside the cab.
Admittedly when the doors are off the...
1. I have not taken it off completely, and usually leave the rear window in. I have a garage but cannot park my truck in it and we can expect flash storms many days of the year. Putting the top back takes just a few seconds and I can do it from the drivers seat, putting it back up takes less...
I've looked at it and there's not really a way to get the mechanisms to work. Plus that would require removing the rear window which pretty seriously slows down the ability to drop and replace the top. Easiest way to accomplish this would probably be a complete replacement frameless top and...
Another soft top only manual rubicon. I specifically wanted the soft top after living with a hard top TJ and taking it off twice. Summers here have a chance of thunderstorms every day and I'm not getting my brand new truck caught in a torrent. Looks? Don't care, I can't see it when I'm...
I'm normally one to do all my own maintenance, but I'm also one to drive used cars without a warranty.
At my dealership they give a 100k engine warranty as long as you get their free oil changes on time. I got the first one done right at 5k miles....and they didn't properly tighten to drain...
If jeep offered a sport with 4.10s and a manual I would have bought that. I had decided against the rubicon on price but it was the only way to get those 2 options from the factory, and coming with 33s and the upgraded head unit meant there was nothing I needed to do. When I need tires I may...
Do you have a matching wheel? The stock steel one is the correct size but the steel wheel doesn't match so I do not want to rotate it in and have a mismatched wheel 80% of the time. If i change wheels I would like a matching spare but the way it mounts under the truck I do not want to damage...
Thanks for the detailed answer, I was not trying to question your credentials but I do understand that not keeping up with technological changes means one can provide old and/or outdated information (I run across this often). Hence my question on timeline.
Your points are well taken. I...
How much does wheel diameter vs tire diameter affect this issue? Thinking back to when I had my TJ it was very common to run 33x12.5 or 35x12.5 on 15x8 wheels. I ran 33s on mine with 15x8 soft 8s and never had an issue with tread bulge (wrangler duratracs). I also have a coworker running...
Both. I wanted a Jeep but needed a truck more ("need" may be strong, but true-ish). So I bought the truck I needed that is also a Jeep, and the Jeep I wanted that is also a truck. And I don't feel like I compromised either of those positions for my uses
What issues are you having exactly? After driving mine with android auto on for about an hour the screen starts to freeze on me...it's too hard to replicate due to specific circumstances and time constraints so I took a video to show to the dealership (haven't done it yet, not an issue that...
Front left pocket with my phone, or front cup holder. I have a winshield phone mount for longer trips and I'll dump the key and wallet in a cup holder. Plenty of nooks and crannies in a jeep
If you want minimal poke look for +20 or less. The more positive you can get the further they will sit inboard. Tire width becomes an issue at some point so you may be looking at a +10 or a 0 to clear tire width
Glad that works for you! I rode around in NC without air conditioning for years and hated it (born in Concord, only a few miles down the road from you). I don't mind manual windows or locks on a 2 door but with 4 I want to roll them all down. I also specifically wanted the soft top - lived...
