Turns out it was the clutch, and a worn camshaft. They had to replace the clutch and the camshft. Luckily the clutch is under recall and the camshaft under warranty.

Thanks so much for the reply! I'll definitely look into it. I have an appointment on Monday to have it checked out. I bought it used after it had been modificed, so this may very well be something of that sort.
