I am fascinated with EVs. Have a Mustang on order. But I think the biggest issue with them as a consumer is the fast pace in which technology is advancing. I worry that buying on in 2021 might be completely obsolete in a few years. Tesla has mitigated that well, but there are still major issues.
We tend to keep cars about 7 to 9 years. I also drive a company car and that one gets remplaced more frequently. Lately, they are Lincoln’s.
For the JT it’s hard to say. Could be 2 could be 10.
Back in the day, I used to drag race. Bozos would buy new Shelby’s, Corvettes etc....take them to the track and wreck them. And then bitch when the insurance company wouldn’t cover it.
Also stories of the new car owner who would take the car in with a blown engine or tranny and there would...
Mine has a tow package. But if I am launching a boat and it goes into the water too far, that’s misuse. It would be an insurance claim not a warranty issue.

As someone who doesn’t lease because well....it costs more until you stop doing it...
I did lease a car for my daughter when she graduated HS. I told her if she got a 4.0 I would get her a new car.
She wanted a VW Golf. So I leased it. She drove it through college. Had only 18,000 miles...
That’s not ALWAYS true. Depends on the state you live in. Some places you get market value and it goes to you! Not the leasing company. Though you need to pay off the lease.
This is an area I have studied in depth.
I have done very detailed calculations.
Here are some rules of thumb I have generated:
1 - Silver standard on a lease is a payment of 1% of the MSRP with no down payment or fees of any kind. This offer meets that criteria. This is based on a 36, 39...
I think most people probably spend money in a way that they make up all kinds of excuses to justify it. My favorite one is “because I deserve it”. I most certainly have done that too. My wife and I earn way more than most people do. I See the things people buy and do and I think it’s...
