  1. Let Us Hear That You Want Core Doors!

I’m not accusing you of defending Bestop. I’m just saying that if Bestop is claiming a “Very high standard” was used to make their soft doors, their use of that same standard in the design and fabrication of Core doors would be enlightening to we few in this tiny little market. I’d consider...
  2. Let Us Hear That You Want Core Doors!

A fair point on the CJ surface being relatively 2-dimensional, however, my (as well as numerous others) have had issues with the 2-dimensional aspect being WAY off. There’s simply no reasonable excuse why these dims are that far off….especially at their price point. Laser tech is cheap and...
  3. Let Us Hear That You Want Core Doors!

I did. They asked for measurements. I provided. They asked for more. I provided more. They asked for more, yet. I gave more…yet. Still have the email chain if you want it, but I’d have to request quid pro quo…..like maybe committing a Bestop team be made locally available to fit my doors...
  4. Let Us Hear That You Want Core Doors!

I hope this very high standard is better than the one used on the soft doors. To say they couldn’t be made to fit is an understatement. Never had a problem with Bestop soft doors on my old CJs. China really screwed your Q/A up.
  5. Philly Area Gladiator Owners

Just passed my 1 year anniversary and loving it in Ambler.
  6. Gladiator fuel overflowing.

Its happened to me nearly every single fill up since buying it in August. From 28 to 89 degrees. Auto release latch engaged at first notch, second notch or not used at all. I’ve even trickled it in as slow as the nozzle valve will allow. It will still spew gas with no warning. I’ve resorted...
  7. What was your favorite Jeep (other than the JT)?

1982 Scrambler with AMC 304, TF 727 tranny, D300, Detroit-locked D44s with SOA (front and rear). I loved it then, but I wouldn’t go back. My Rubi JT is perfect for me now.
  8. Gladiator advice Before I buy?

    Just Empty Every Pocket
  9. Hood Rock Deflector...Yay or Nay

Sorry to hear that. The statement of mine that you quoted was a response to the OP and in reference to his concerns with “....bugs and such....” and based on my experience. I don’t discount the inadvertent freak occurrences, such as the one you mentioned. The occasional chip happens. But...
  10. Bestop 2-Piece Full Fabric Doors, Front JL SKU: 5175017

Thanks, J&D, but I tried this. If you look at my pics, the door seams were parallel with the door edges. I adjusted the door as low as it would go. While that helps align the latch, it cocked the door at an angle and failed to get any of the gasket to seal. There was more than one problem...
  11. Doors off/doors on

I take mine off every weekend and just bought/installed pin guides on the door pins to project the door pin threads and jamb-side bushings. Zero problems.
  12. soft top question / issue - bungee strap

I see the roll up option as economical solution to necessary storage, however, I’d recommend the bag. I’ve found that rolling up plastic windows tends to cause premature clouding. I won’t even wipe them with a cloth. :whew: Mine stays on unless it comes off at the house. Then, it gets hung...

    Awesome!!!
  14. Bestop 2-Piece Full Fabric Doors, Front JL SKU: 5175017

I just wrote JCR, asking them to start making their doors to accept the Bestop upper, even if the uppers aren’t sold yet. In retrospect, I should’ve asked them to start making uppers, as well. In my opinion, Bestop’s monopoly on modern Jeep soft doors has benefitted way too much by lack of...
  15. Anyone remove and leave off the engine cover?

^^^THIS^^^ They started this 20 years ago. Some don’t even have dipsticks. If you’re interested in the topic of dissuading the American shady-tree mechanic, read the book “Shop Class as Soul Craft.”. He actually mentions (extremely briefly) the implementation of engine covers.
  16. About to make a deal and last minute the dealer tells me the vehicle has over 4000 miles...

I wouldn’t be afraid of 4k, but given the fact it’s pretty high for a new vehicle and COVID has sales down, that dealer would have to make some serious discounts or add-ons.
  17. Clunk on downshifting

Yep. Rubi with Tow package. Very mild, but concerning.
  18. Hood Rock Deflector...Yay or Nay

I vote “no”. When I was younger, I had an older body repairman tell me to slow down and stop tail-gating. If course, being young and headstrong, it was my right to do both! At 51, I’ve realized that old coot was correct. I do 55-60 and stay back 4-5 car lengths. Zero chips in paint...
  19. Where do you carry Freedom Panels in the vehicle?

I used to put them in the bag and place them in bed, as well. Then I had a leak appear above the rearview mirror. A look at the gasket made me believe either the compression of the bag or the little projected finger of gasket on the passenger side was folded back while in the bag and created...
  20. Gladiator advice Before I buy?

I’d say have a clear understanding of what you want vs what is offered. Base line will do for everyone that isn’t wrapped up in fads and/or wants to customize. Rubicon for those that will take it offroad and consider lockers and disco a bare minimum. Overlander of you’re looking at a...
