Update: Took it in. The service guy and the head mechanic listened to it for a minute and confirmed itās just loud injectors and itās common on the latest 3.6 to just make a lot of noise. They said if it was the lifter/cam issue it would sound like a wrench tapping metal and would be much...
I mean it definitely didnāt used to do this and has been getting worse so thatās what has me scheduling the appointment. Fingers crossed it isnāt the rocker cam issue that seems to be a big issue lately.
Itās especially noticeable when the hood is up, but I can also hear it when driving. Iām not sure what this is or if itās worth me making an appointment at the dealership any advice on how to diagnose or what it could be would be appreciated.
Yep I acknowledge itās weird, and I am probably sensitive to it with a history of tinnitus. Was definitely a problem however and have video of the flaps fluttering on the highway and slamming open and closed. The fairing works, I think itās safe to buy if you are a normal person and at least if...
Hi, updating this with the results. So as stated earlier the tubing in between the cab fixed the issue, but was a poor solution. I ended up installing a fairing that bridges the gap and this entirely fixed the issue. Here are the parts I used:
- Alu-Cab Load Bar 1250mm - Black
-...
I did also confirm that I can stop the flapping noise and somewhat stop the ear pressure (not totally sure) by placing several towels and a 2 inch thick piece of foam pressed up against the back of the cab where the seat once was. So the theory of slowing down the air has some merit.
I have...
For now I have some insulation installed and it seems to have fixed the flapping and reduced the cabin buffeting. Still might look into a simple gutter fairing to try and really fix the problem and give me .25 mpg back.
Iād really like to be able to fit in the garage. Iām already on. 2.5 lift with 37s. Iāll try the pool noodle above the vents and see if that can be workable and if not Iāll have to look at the roof racks or more drastic changes like switching to smart cap
Yeah, that's tough. I am extremely disappointed in the alucab right now. A lot of the images I see there's a massive rooftop tent spanning the void, so no wonder there's no issues. I've only had it for about a month, but I doubt there's any amount of refunding AVO will do if I want to swap for a...
Update: adding this did solve the fluttering vent problem. Still felt some pressure issues in the cab but I canāt tell if thatās because my ears are flared up from previous drives.
Yes, those are the vents Iām talking about. They are free to air if you look down from the top of your bed. If you look down the crack and close your doors, you can see them flare out.
Is your theory with the tape that because my cap sticks up into the air above my roofline itās creating a high pressure zone which is messing with the relief vents and my ears. Or are you more concerned about the gap between my rear window and cab. Just trying to get a mental model here.
I canāt believe I am considering taping the top of my jeep but I guess Iām desperate!
Could you send me a photo of how your smart cap is lined up and how flush it is with the roof line?
So I am having some problems with my hardtop 2023 JTR after a few modifications. I have done the following:
alucab contour canopy
60% goose gear seat delete.
My main problem right now is I am having some pretty intense ear buffeting with all the windows up. Driving on the highway, or honestly...
Hard to know, maybe the rub is only at extreme flex or something? Depending on what you are doing I wonder if itās even a problem. Probably someone on here who knows much more than me that could give a better opinion. Iād reach out for confirmation of your fucked-ness before sending on new wheels.
