Have you checked out bed racks from Xtrusion Overland? Their racks are very customizable since they are based around aluminum extrusions. I'm considering modifying their rack using linear bearings to allow the cross bars to slide.

What are the dimensions of the compartments?

I'm curious if you could fit a dual ARB air compressor in those compartments. Could be a great location since it would not be exposed directly to the elements or excessive heat as is the case if is mounted in the engine bay. Furthermore, the compressor would not have to take up precious bedside...

Have you looked at the Leitner Active Cargo Bed Rack? You can slide the crossbars toward the cab to allow room for taller items or in your case to stand in the bed. The rack's accessories are modular so you can arrange the storage bins and other tool mounts as needed.

To clarify is the 14" from the top edge of the bedside to the bottom-most point of the horizontal top bars of the rack or is it to the top side of the top bars. Awesome looking rack BTW. @RebelOffRoad have you guys considered making the height of the rack adjustable? Like 2" increments? I'm...

@Maximus-3 has there been any consideration to make the top rails of the overland rack removable/slidable to facilitate taller items in the bed (e.g. bikes, dirt bikes, etc)? It would also be interesting to include this configuration on your future half-height bed rack as well potentially.
