For a start:
After living in Typhoon Alley (Guam, and the Philippines) for a lot of years, prepping for disasters comes reflexively. Back here in the states, there are different problems and different solutions. But, the common thread is what can you live without? And, what do you need to live...
I got a call from the dealer yesterday morning. He wanted to know if I still had my 21 JTR. I told him yes I did still have it. He wanted to know if I was interested in a "shiny new" JTR. I told him that to get what I had would cost me too much and I wasn't interested. His excuse for calling was...
Just leave it. Kinda a badge of honor. I carry 4 dogs with me. The 2 big ones in the back (on a hammock) and the little ones are certifiable "missiles" in the cab.
I have owned 2 Gladiators. The first one was a 2021 Overland. Had the V6 and stock tires and wheels. It had a few options and it rode well on the highway. I think the best mileage was on a trip across New Mexico, AZ and into California.
I liked the ride so much, I traded in my 21 Tacoma TRD...
I would just leave well enough alone. If it is not broken....
With regards to paying for additional services, I already pay (too much) for XM and they stuff commercials into the feed. So, in order to keep from being ripped off by a whole lot, I use OnX Offroad with pre loaded maps (because I...
I bought mine off the lot in 2021. I knew about that 25% of the value dropping from the Gladiator as soon as I drove it off the lot. It was a cultural thing as I had been a hardcore Toyota Fan. But, I knew after driving it on my first off road event, I was hooked. For me, it is kinda a niche and...
Last Christmas there was a sale on the Makita with 2 batteries. I snatched one up and I have used it 2 times on runs. I have been using one that works off the battery but it took a few minutes to get going.
With the Makita, I just set the pressure setting and start. When I get through, I just...
I mounted my FT-857D for use on a few bands. I can receive Ham radio frequencies, FRS/GMRS frequencies, and CB radio frequencies. The antennas are hooked up to the radio for multiple bands. The radio is under the back seat, speaker under the front seat, and microphone on the dash.
Any questions?
I feel the Gladiator will tow up to (in my case) 5500 pounds. There is a cost. The motor doesn't make a lot of torque so any load (wind or hills) have great impact while trying to maintain 65 or better. The truck never ever sees 8th gear and rarely 7th. I am ok with that knowing the torque...
I got one of those as well. Works great.
On the towing capability; I just know from towing a Coleman Rubicon 16 footer (with the slide out) that the motor is being loaded quite a bit. The trailer tag says that max loading gets the weight up to 5100 lbs. I have noticed that towing on flat and...
These damn things are like Swiss Army Knives. Once you get it in your pocket, you reach for it instinctively. So, having one in the stable is enough for me. It's paid for and parked in the garage ready to be pulled out and used for when needed. ...and I just picked up a 24 Tundra TRD Off Road...
I kinda ran into a similar situation. I picked up a travel trailer and started hauling it with my JTR. I didn't like the fact that the motor spent a lot of time above 4K rpm. So, I started to look. My wife had a Wrangler Sahara, and I thought it might be time to diversify my garage a bit. I...
