...it ever gets warm enough to actually take my HT off and put it to use.
The layout of my garage prevents me from installing a ceiling mounted hoist where I can remove the HT directly from my truck. Up to now, I've been removing it with assistance, balancing it on my trash wheelie bin to hook...
...I'm getting a much better night's sleep, I'm ok with 30 extra lbs and some extra room, especially since I'm most likely using some sort of hoist system to remove the tent anyway.
The extra room will also come in handy if you do any fall/early winter camping. You can pack some extra layers...
Someday I aspire to have a garage with a hoist. I would be much more willing to attempt something like gears if I could get the truck off the ground. Laying on my back in the driveway isn't a good time when shit gets heavy and awkward.
...we also have other toys strapped into the bed. I also like the idea of the freedom panels being attached to the hardtop, so that when I use my hoist to remove it the panels just stay intact with the top for storage.
And the Truck Buddiez? You can never have enough tie down points to...
Mods thanks for relocating my thread and thanks @Wharton and @Hoist for the replies. It's been at the dealer since Monday now (It's Wednesday) and they currently can't reproduce the issue. The weather got a little warmer in TN now when it was really cold it was doing this every day or multiple...
There is some fudge factor built in. Transmission is not going to grenade if you are off a couple ounces +/-.
Factory fill and level procedures for JL and JT make no mention of the transmission needing to be level, just the vehicle on a level hoist.
I’ve adapted this to work on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK and JL. Currently using It for my Gladiator. Forum pricing $100. I’m located in North County San Diego. No shipping.
Rich: I didn't remove my body. The 3.6L came out easy through the front. Grill and radiator fairly easy to remove. Didn't even remove the bumper or winch. I did put the 392, 8HP75 Trans and MP1622 transfer case in as one unit. The one piece motor "perches" are the easiest way to go. The 8HP75...
...more options for someone who wants to DIY are starting to come.
Looking to do something this spring after we get back from Moab. I have a hoist to lift the body off, can weld and do the work just don't want to be tracking down a bunch of small parts and stuff. I can source the engine and...
...easier then the 4 piece each side OEM ones from Jeep. Those ones you have to hang your engine and trans from the trans cross member and engine hoist to figure out where they go. I also believe ( SoFlo Custom Parts ) out of Florida offers a kit? SoFlo Customer Parts I just Googled, I have...
I've been looking to ad a hoist to my Big tex car trailer ... didn't even think to want a winch on it and use a receiver ... well guess ad that to the list
That’s a great idea. I finally just put it on top of the trailer, under the tent, when I decided I wanted the tongue space back for water. That’s where it was originally.
I am working on that myself for my trailer during its Winter upgrades its getting. With the clearance mine has I am thinking I will do a under bed hoist style mount.
No.
If this was simple as slap an LS in it, companies wouldn't be charging 30k for conversions and getting it.
You're going to learn to code, learn to make PCB's, learn a lot of new things that one individual typically isn't walking around with the knowledge in their head.
To be blunt AF...
