I ordered the White Knuckle sliders first. While I was waiting on them to show up. I decided to protect all the low hanging fruit under my JT. I installed all the Rock Hard skids for the controls arms, rear shocks and Rusty's skids for the rear control arms. Also the Rock Hard skid for the FAD...
Been way too long since my last update.
On the upside, I spent most of the past 5 months on trips of various kinds -- from 1,000+ mile highway treks to primitive camping, from Vero Beach to the upper Adirondacks. Learned a bit about the rig, and a lot about the gear; what worked, what didn't...
Right now I have 2 inch spacer from IronRock Offroad in the rear and Clayton replacement springs that give 1/2 inch lift to gladiators. I don't mind a little rake, but it will be close to or over 3 inches once I add bumper/winch unless the spacer is added in the front like I wanted.
Got my lift installed yesterday. 2" frankenlift but not too happy. I bought a 2" @IronRock Offroad spacer lift with the Bilstein shocks and @Clayton Off Road replacement front springs (per the Clayton website, the new springs have a stronger spring rate and give JK/JL 1.5" lift and JT .5" lift)...
If payload is a concern, don't. If payload is no concern, then no biggy
The only impacts I see are payload, and already having extra weight back there if you tow.
I've considered it myself - actually my wife said "why don't you get a steel bumper for the back if it's stronger. You have one on...
I am ordering some stuff tomorrow. Two steel front bumpers one stubby from Fab Fours and one stubby from Iron Cross. one set of rock sliders from Fab Fours. And two steel rear bumpers from IronCross.
My big question is there any strong reason not to do steel bumpers in the rear? I don't...
I wondered why it mattered having a dog or not.........
My ex brother in law used to hunt coons when the pelts were worth something - 25-50 bucks at times. He always took good flashlights and his dog. I recall one time his dog cornered a coon in the corner of a barn and the results weren't great...
Airlift 1000 kit for JT
Air Lift 1000 Air Suspension Kit 60830 https://a.co/d/6SlBBwc
If you’re dead set on a lift i LOVEA my ironrock off road 2in lift. But in retrospect i should have stuck to the daystar 3/4in front and rear spacers. A little lift w/o having to do any other suspension...
I'm with you. Even with my 3.5" lift and 37s, I run all the skids. RSE sliders, Control arms skids front and rear, FAD, Exhaust Loop, shocks, Engine, Tranny, Transfer case, Both Diff skids, Modular iron diff covers. Note: I also have a Stick shift, and I use the M.O.R.E steel engine...
Not to be "picky" - but maybe, yeah, but so maybe people can understand what's what under those valve covers:
These do not have lifters. Lifters lift - like the old in the block cams of the V8, for example. Those functioned as both lifters because they lifted, and adjusted the lash - took out...
#sorrynotsorry but welding the Ujoint caps might be so low on a realistic priority list this almost rings like a joke. Especially in light of thinking it was a good idea to run 37s on a dana 30. ;) I've had two JKs, wheeled with countless others (on hard trails) and this is the first time...
How would that have put it "a few hundred pounds over....."?
If his was rated 1,100 pounds (which is possible, mine is rated a bit less) he may have been 100-200 over, depending on his own weight, but not hundreds. And no, these have soft springs. Check the drop test I did on mine over 2 years...
...a rake to haul/tow with it. I also have a TJ that I use for more hardcore wheeling.
I just did a 2" spacer. Like the AEV, but I went with IronRock Off Road instead, particularly because they're local to me. It's nice the spacers are steel as well. Their kit is spring and shock spacers only...
Got a good bit done this weekend.
First off, what is this, a Tesla!? :
A couple notes on the spacer lift:
The IronRock Offroad lift is a pretty budget spacer, but it's beefy. It's welded steel coil spacers and shock extension brackets. That's it.
In drooping the suspension to install the...
Wow that tire and wheel combo look awesome. Any chance we can get a couple photos looking down the side of the vehicle to see the poke with a +25 wheel?
...definitely aware that I’ll need more than the springs. the plan is to do control arm drop brackets to address caster and a track bar to recenter the axle, as well as Bilstien 5100s. I HAVE to get this junk IronRock Off-road spacer lift off my truck. Damn thing rattles terribly going down the...
