Like you, I mostly followed the video's advice of putting it all together on top of my bed cover first. I spent 10 minutes farting around with the z-clips until I saw the recommendation about using needle nose pliers and then it was a breeze.
Love my Sunrider! It makes it so much easier to...
After my negative experience with Quadratec turned out positive in the end, I received my Sunrider top in good shape. I had already downloaded the printed instructions and watched a couple YouTube videos on the install. The best install video was the Quadratec video. His method and...
If your sales person is worth anything, they should be spending a good 15+ minutes with you in, and around, the Jeep to explain every button, lever, gear shifter, tools, bags, storage compartments, etc, that come with it. Even if you know everything about Jeeps, you should still check all these...
Like new, glossy black hard top with freedom panels, storage bag and hothead liners ($500?). Located in central Alabama. Nothing wrong with it just want a soft top instead, so might trade plus cash. $1650
I opened mine 5 times today. Probably the best thing I have purchased for it so far. My wife liked it so now she has one on the JLU. What would NIKE do?
You just contradicted yourself here bud. its 'ok' for people to have the freedom to choose a manual crank window that you will never agree with but an airbag should not be something someone should be allowed to choose? hmm..
I'm all for freedoms. Dont want them, dont have to be required...
I used mine all the time. So nice to just flip back the top with one hand when it is nice out and vice versa when weather gets bad. If I had a hardtop I would definitely recommend it but have a professional install it.
Pros
Very convenient
Looks good
Cons
Installation is challenging
They are extremely easy and quick to remove and replace. The only reason that I’d consider it is for the convenience factor. We get pop-up storms often enough that if I’m going far from home, the panels are coming with me.
If I’m rolling solo, that’s not a big deal…I put the right panel behind...
In April RealTruck, a vendor on this site quoted me $750 for the RR top minus a $100 rebate for a total cost of $650.
If I could get a Sunrider for $600, I'd probably do it.
Though in my case the Sunrider is worth less for 2 reasons.
1) I have a topper on the back. So when the freedom...
I mean, the jury is still out on if the Rugged Ridge softtop is any good in the first place, and it's also well over $900 last I saw. I get your point though.
I found a Sunrider for $650 last year, and I don't regret a single dollar of it. No the freedom panels aren't that hard to operate, but...
Is this true about the grab handles? I actually have Mopar grab handles on order (with a never never ending out of stock) and was going to pull the trigger on the Sunrider top, but hate to hear they are incompatible...
Bought the Sunrider last June and haven't looked back since. It helps that ther was a 10% BestTop rebate at the time. I store my freedomtops for the summer now and they don't go back on until -late- fall. I was tired of stopping and stashing the tops and then having to ride around with the...
I leave mine on all year round even though snowy weather. I have the twill model which is better insulated I’ve read. Flip the two release levers on driver & passenger side & it’s a One handed operation to fold back the top or pull it forward. It’s great in nice weather for the open air concept...
Felt I should follow-up: another model with detachable front camera went on sale, and after being annoyed by the cut-off view again I decided to get it.

Initial impressions are very positive...
I have had mine for 2 years. It stays on year around. I open about 300 days a year. Love that I can open and close it at a stop light. I live in New Mexico so 300 days of sunshine but still get snow. No real heat or cold bleed here. If you can afford it it’s well worth it.
Do it.
I live in Washington where it rains or there's a threat of rain 95% of the year. We had it when we went to Jackson, WY in March, where it was 10-15* in the morning. Super handy for taking pics out of the roof.
