  1. Pickup bed features

This is the type of bumper I expect it to ultimately come with. The bumper that is on the spy shots looks like a modified (or maybe just a straight) Ram rear bumper. the giant gap between the rear flair and bumper will need filled with something.
  2. Production to start in April 2019?

I've never heard this anywhere else, and the employees at the facility are under the impression they are still a long way off from stopping JK production. As are the suppliers of the new equipment that I work for......
  3. JT still just a Jeep

@FrankInNordale If someone had an honest conversation about needs they will likely no longer be in the market for any Jeep product..... The entire brand relies on splurge desires.
  4. JT still just a Jeep

I agree with you and will admit that I have and still sometimes do totally fall into both categories here... The thing is, A heavily loaded JLU Rubicon is pulling $55k on the sticker (at least the one Mel and Lisa Wade just got did). If the JT ends up being the presumed $5-7k more expensive, it...
  5. Production to start in April 2019?

JL production remains at a very low 300 units a day. Until this gets close to 1000 the JK line will not be shut down. If this doesn't happen soon this time-line will drift. ....and so will my patience and interest.
  6. Which top are you looking for?

It, won't be a Taco, but if I can't have a soft top I will go with either a Raptor or Ranger Raptor if I can't have a soft top. 95% of the time we will run the soft top, only trading for a hard top when we are camping/overlanding in areas that don't allow soft top vehicles.
  7. Jeep pickup available mid 2019, will be "intentionally" expensive

$3-5K sounds about right to me... there is more material, and the axles have more beef, likely the brakes and some other stuff too. If the adder for a JT is only this amount more than a similarly equipped JLU then I'm okay. Sadly, it sounds like the "adder" may be twice that. In other news...
  8. Jeep pickup available mid 2019, will be "intentionally" expensive

I wonder if this is a plot to get those of us that are waiting on the JT to go ahead and jump on the JL.... only later to be sad and switch to the JT? I agree with others, this is VERY sad news. I can see the JT being more than a Colorado or Ranger a bit as they don't have removable doors or a...
  9. FIRST AFTERMARKET MODIFICATION

I figured this, but neither actually increase payload. They just make the vehicle handle loads better. The cab-over camper is ~1300 pounds. Current Dana 44 axles have a GAWR of 3500 pounds. This would leave ~2200 pounds for the Gladiator's weight in the rear. I agree...sounds doable.
  10. FIRST AFTERMARKET MODIFICATION

Not really... Payload capacity begins with the axle. If the JT still has semi-float axles you are looking at a best case axle capacity of ~5500 pounds. Then you need to deduct the weight of the vehicle that axle carries from that. Thanks to aftermarket support, axle swaps are a lot easier these...
  11. Should have gone with Gladiator.

I agree completely, but Our JKU is actually larger than our '67 M715 (Which is essentially a militarized Gladiator) and the JL is larger than a JK... I know the whole "mid-size/full-size" isn't really about physical size but rather capacity but it's interesting how small "full-sized" used to be...
  12. From the C pillar forward same as JLU correct?

From an automation point of view... the releases are really too close to make any substantial process changes. Machines for the JT production are already in full swing and/or are nearing complete to complete. To your point though... aligning with facility capability and or a marketing play...
  13. From the C pillar forward same as JLU correct?

One thing about all Jeep Wrangler type designs is that they are very modular and easy to change one place without altering another. I would think the "for sure" zone would be a bit closer to the nose at the B-pillar, but my guess is you are mostly right. The thing is... it's not that big of a...
  14. Scrambler wish list

I think Jeep has standardized on this for anything with towing package. Our KL Cherokee Trailhawk has this and can only tow 4000(ish) pounds (I can't remember if its 4500 but I know it's at least 4k). ----- I wasn't really clear when I posted my wish of 6500 pounds towing. I wasn't really...
  15. KBB 2017 Best Resale Value Awards: Wrangler @ 4th spot

My company car is a 4-Runner for this very reason. High residual values means cheap lease options. You can always spot the vehicles with the best residual values at my company meetings. Last year the lot was full of Ford Explorers, and now it's full of 4-Runners. Seriously, it looks like a...
  16. How will Jeep Gladiator Pickup do in current state of the midsize pickup truck market

The biggest challenger would be the Ranger Raptor IMO, but I think the JT (Gladiator) will do just fine. I honestly don't think most interested in a JT are interested in it for it's "truckness". It's desirable because of all the things it can do (hopefully) beyond its practical uses. Much the...
  17. Jeep Gladiator Pickup Truck (JT) Spy Pics and Videos!

@Troybilt and @TexTJ209 Ha! well there you go! While I don't agree... it seems Jeep may have made the better call for the spare under the bed even though it made the butt a little large. :)
  18. Jeep Gladiator Pickup Truck (JT) Spy Pics and Videos!

I'm still not sure the bed that is on it is correct... But I would think the ones with the spare under the bed are at least close. If this is the case... It's got a big-ol' bootie and will have some departure issues. I'd almost prefer the spare stand vertical in the bed. Many will need relocated...
  19. Scrambler wish list

We really need 6500-7200 towing capability. I was optimistic about this early on when there were spy shots that had a class 4 hitch, but with the assumed JL commonality I fear this is unlikely. We've been really happy with our JKU-R's 3.6L but I wish FCA would finish the darn engine as per its...
  20. Verified: 2020 JT Gladiator Pickup Truck Production Starts January 2019, Order Banks Open in Jan/Feb

Based on what I'm seeing with my projects, This timing sounds about right. This is somewhat unfortunate for me though... between this and the likelihood it's targeted for the more mid-sized truck market I fear it may not suit our needs. I was REALLY wishing we would have a toy to haul our toys.
