Comparing the JTU and JLU prototypes, I wouldn't be surprised if only the JLU has the new body line. The JTU pickup seems to have less vertical body to work with. If you compare these two side by side you can tell the JLU has a taller side body below the windows. The different side mirror...
The cutline between cab and bed looks angular in the aerial photo but more curved in these on-road pics.
Hope it's not curved, that would look weird with the angular rear doors.
Personally I wouldn't mind at all if the spare were side mounted like on the Gladiator. Gives the pickup a very unique old school touch. And solves the problems of a tailgate and underbody mount.
This looks different and is useful.
Pickups often have wider front axles and narrower rear axles. Because pickups are long, having the front track wider than the rear improves turning radius.
This thing reminds me of the Gladiator.
I think the JT will be more in the spirit of the Gladiator rather than the larger Gladiator. Probably won't have class leading payload and towing capacity but should be more than enough to compliment the lifestyles of Wrangler owners.
Not sure any of these details if true means the Ranger will suck as a JT competitor. It should be competitive in the midsize truck segment. The one sold internationally right now can tow 7716 pounds and estimated max payload capacity over 2000 pounds.
The specs of the Ranger, Colorado, Tacoma...
FCA's ad agency is terrific. Especially like the description:
"As Vikings seek new land and take on large expeditions in uncharted territories, they need the best tools known to mankind. There's tough and there's Viking tough."
Yea that sounds like it's going to be optioned to the 9's with a price tag to match. Maybe this will be a limited edition version only to go after the Raptor?
this is what I'm thinking too. It also helps to save weight since less bolstering is needed. They can replace the safety bar with a stronger top structure and reduce lower body reinforcement.
I'm wondering if any of these changes have to do with economies of scale in building the pickup as...
Question.. the press launch is not the same thing as the reveal right? It wouldn't make sense for order banks to open before they show the JL. Any info on when it will be revealed?
