The tazer unlocks some fun stuff on the Rubicon that should be applicable to the Mojave too. My personal favorite is the traction control kill. Turns off all electronic nannies and let's you drive the truck more spirited.
Since you're starting off with a Mojave, the mechanicals will be superb, especially that suspension. My suggestions for first mods:
Tazer (already mentioned a few times)
Spider web shade or similar
Mirrors for when the doors are off (take your pick)
Go have fun with it, then you'll better...
Which lift did you decide on? I've looked at them all and honestly, I'd love to have the stock Mojave setup on my Rubicon. Just a little lift, but high performance.
I just added a 1.5" spacer lift to the front (3/4" to the rear) of my otherwise stock Rubicon to compensate for the height I lost when I added a winch and steel bumper. I did not take measurements before the winch and bumper, but it was raked before and seemed to be more so after. More alarming...
@spenchey will do 5% below invoice with Tread Lightly. That equates to a little over 10% below MSRP. You should be just under $50k. I just picked up my JTR from Motor Inn of Spirit Lake yesterday and that's the deal I got. No special financing required.
You are correct about the ratcheting coming from the two wheel speeds, but the rear axle will experience two wheel speeds just like the front axle any time you are off the gas and not going dead straight ahead. You are probably right in saving up and getting a selectable locker. A locker on a...
If the ratcheting noise is a concern, then you must understand a lunchbox locker is going to do that whether it's in the front or the back. You will hear it and feel it more in the rear since that is your permanent driven axle.
Reach out to @spenchey. He's pretty active on this board, a forum sponsor and located in Iowa. You can work a no BS deal through PM or just call the dealership and ask for Spencer. Motor Inn of Spirit Lake.
I've run a lunchbox locker in the rear of a full size truck for a year now and there are some days it's silent and other days that it pops and bangs like a mother. Gotta pay close attention to the air pressure on both tires. Any variation there will contribute to bad juju driving around on hard...
Got an email from my dealer this morning that my build started and should be complete by the weeks end. That last part was just his best guess. I tried to verify status with Jeep Chat , but I can't connect. Anyone else having any problems connecting to Jeep Chat?
I like that idea. I'm still tossing around the idea of running a full set of the steel spare wheels, either leaving them black, powder coating Gobi, or powder coating white. Low on my priority list, but I do sit and think about it.
