I think your issue may be weight, not sure how big of a boat you tow, but equipped with the manual they are rated for 4,000lbs or 4,500 if you get the rubi. Not that the vehicle "can't" tow it but you might eat up the clutch quicker if you tow a boat frequently.

I learned recently from going through some of these threads the max towing on the manual JT is 4,000lbs or 4,500lbs on the Rubicon. Not sure what they were thinking here, huge disappointment for folks who want the 6 speed. Why would they do this? Other than not wanting to invest in a better...

This just ruined my day finding out the manual transmission is rated for 4,000 lbs. I was 100% going to buy one and get rid of 18' sierra that I purchased 8 months ago, but I need to tow 5,500 lbs. I was soo excited, now depressed.
