Yea if the fender vents are in the CAD it'll for sure be on the JT.
Why wouldn't the JT windshield fold down if the JL does though? I don't think they'd design and produce another windshield design (one that doesn't fold) just for the JT. And the lack of grab handles shouldn't affect whether...
Big reason why Crew Chief looks better proportioned than the JT prototype is the size of the tires. Such a big vehicle like the JT needs big tires/wheels to balance it out. The factory tires look kinda dwarfed by the JT. Look at how good the Brute AEV's with big fat tires look....
Hah I think they coulda named it anything and they're gonna sell a ton of these. But I like how they dug up the Gladiator name. My second choice would have been Crew Chief. I think Jeep fans will be happy with Gladiator though.
Looks like there's lateral bars or structure of some kind under the bed camouflage cover. Wonder if that's part of the camo covering or something in the bed itself?
Keep in mind towing capacities in US are always understated for liability reasons and to make FCA lawyers sleep better at night.
The JKU towing capacity is listed as 3500 lbs in US but guess what it is in Australia? 4400 lbs! And it's the same car made in the same plant in Toledo.
So...
Definitely expect some price gouging at dealers for the first JL/JLU/JT to come in, if not in the form of straight price markup over MSRP then they'll load it up with all kinds of dealer added options (theft recovery system, paint protection, underbody protection, etc.). Too bad there's some who...
Just read that Ford sold 72,000 F-Series trucks in November! Industry wide, overall sales of trucks increased 4.9% and SUVs jumped 18.9%! Jeep will hands down sell every single Wrangler pickup they make.
Great pics. Don't think I've seen aerial spy pics like this before. Spy photographers are either using drones or helicopters now.. impressive.
They kept the bed a relatively compact size and relatively short overhang which is nice. Maybe this thing will actually have some the chops for off...
That's FCA's planned schedule, but that's also assuming there's no delays. Cherokee and Renegade were both delayed so don't be shocked if same were to happen with JL production.
A good estimate would probably be in Spring 2017. They can debut the Wrangler JL at Detroit auto show in Jan. or NY show in April and open order banks right after to capitalize on the attention and buzz. Plus in past model years the order bank for JK has opened around May-June, so this timing...
If the rumors about the new Jeep Wrangler losing the sport bar is true then it won't look anything that open. It would have to have more of a roof structure in place which would still be visible after you take off the removable soft, hard, glass top panels.
Different company and car, but someone brought up the Ford Mustang Ecoboost turbo model... it gets better MPG than the V6 model but isn't priced as the cheapest 'base' model. The V6 model is on that car. I happen to also think that the hurricane engine will probably be the standard engine for...
Power soft top sounds much more convenient but also one more thing to possibly break or wear out. And if you get the hardtop glass it'll give you a panoramic roof?
