Yes - completely different aims, and not really comparable.
Before buying my second Ridgeline (2007 then 2019) I wanted to check out the Gladiator because it was so different/likely fun, but it was just coming out and very rare... plus the prices were much more than I wanted to pay. But I do...
Got ya. Less head room might make sense bc the rear seat bottom sits up kind of high, a little like the rear passengers are sitting in the next row of a theater.
The design creates a lot of storage space under the rear seats though, which is helpful, and they flip up (split into 2 sections) so...
Hah, I had seen an article that stated the opposite, nearly word-for-word :) :
Honda Ridgeline vs. Jeep Gladiator: Seating
Both the Jeep Gladiator and Honda Ridgeline are five-seater pickup trucks. The former has the edge in space for the driver and front passenger with superior legroom...
I haven't been in the back seat of a Gladiator, but had read that the Ridgeline's rear seating area is slightly bigger. Maybe that's incorrect, or it doesn't seem that way in-person.
To me it's more about functionality than the structure that enables the functions. Frame or not, the Ridgeline has payload capacity near 1500# and 4x8 sheet goods lie flat on the bed floor - that's a truck.
Depends on what the contest is - across the country in comfort with 1000+ lbs in the bed or across a rutted field....each shines in its element. The XJ is quite a machine, no doubt.
It's definitely not for real off-roading - basically "off pavement" capability - but it's almost certainly the best otherwise, and is excellent on a country road. The two-way tailgate and trunk are game changers for everyday use.
Bingo. RL lacks the ground clearance and the other stellar off-road attributes of the Gladiator, and NO other truck is a convertible, lol. Can certainly imagine going that route (or lack of route :) ) at some point.
The RL AWD system is terrific on winding roads, is at home on the 3 mile...
I had a 2007 Ridgeline and now a 2019. Agree that it's very functional but kinda boring - especially in comparison to the Gladiator (which I like; why I'm enrolled here) - but on the topic of hauling, the payload is competitive at about 1500 lbs. Bed is 64" - I think a little longer than the...
It's the convertible aspect of the Gladiator that caught my attention, but my wife does have a very nice ragtop already. We had an '07 Ridgeline that was fantastic, and when I started considering a new truck my wife said "By now you're kind of addicted to having a truck with a trunk", and she...
I like the Gladiator, though it's obviously a very different type of machine vs. my Ridgeline. Both good for their purposes IMO.
It's my second RL, and I did re-look at what's on the market, and even drove an F150 to check out something different. Might've looked at the Gladiator but really...
I have a Honda Ridgeline, and the conventional-truck world mostly refuses to consider it a "truck", no matter how much it can haul or tow. Why do people get so worked up about this stuff - is it just their insecurity?
……………………….
Agree with you on the electric vehicle opinion. Let's see what is developed, and if EVs eventually win us consumers over it'll be via good performance....or it won't happen. No-lose situation.
100% with you on the "purse" comment. Grow up.
The Nissan is an ancient beast that never reviews well, and the GMC # should be combined with the Chevy - same thing.
Thinking of replacing my 2007 Ridgeline - still runs great; just need a refresh. Traded in our 2011 JGC Overland in January (wife & I both loved it; we like Jeep) - but have...
