Not sure the clock issue can be addressed by a dealer. I get the occasional crash and the system can't act strange from time to time, but I don't see much they can do other than replace it with the same one.

If you jump over to the JL forums, there are many ongoing topics on this. I think there are some issues with updates and flashing to your vin. Sorry I dont have more details, but I do believe it is not so simple as buying and 8.4 and plugging it in.

I assume anyone considering this unit is a 5 inch u connect owner. I believe there are some issues with adding the 8.4 inch in terms of updates and having it flashed to your VIN, not impossible though. There is a lot about this on the JL forums.

I don't think Alpine makes any of the head units, I believe the Alpine upgrade is simply the speakers.

MA'S has to order like any other dealer. Could be a temporary thing. There was a small window where I couldn't order certain options. MA'S seemed to have a lag on ordering changes and updates from the factory. Have you rep check with the factory for more accurate info.
