  1. Overland Axe? 28" or 36"

I got a really nice ax way back when I was a boy scout, it was very high quality. I still have it, its been with me and camping trips across the US, wheeling from Mexico and Panama to Alaska and many other places around the world and the US. FYI, in over 65 years it's done great, in fact, its...
  2. Gears for 37" tires

If you really go hardcore, the 4:88 have got the thick pinion, beyond that, they start getting smaller unless you go with a bigger axle group. In the rocks especially in Moab and while they call it "Slick Rock" there is NOTHING slick about it, the grip is incredible. A lot of axles get snapped...
  3. Gears for 37" tires

The 4:88/37 combo is great and I believe even greater with the 8-sp auto, that should make a super rig. I have only owned 1 4 door Jeep and after about 3 mo I traded it in. The Glady is actually my wife, she LOVES it. My current rig is a '17 Rubicon Recon edition. It is an auto but I put up...
  4. Gears for 37" tires

You gots to be cautious when playing tires and gears. What gain on the bottom you lose on top! One of my Jeeps had 5:38s and I could not drive that rig much faster than about 55 mph. But I was wheeling local and that was fine. My daily driver was 37s and 4:88s and I put almost 100k miles on...

5 tire rotation! NEVER done, never will. Learned from my Dad who bought his FIRST car for $10 bucks, used, at the Ford Dealership.. They had just come out with the Model A (1928) and he got a deal on a Model T. Did he rotate tires? YES! WHY? Dry ROT! Tires back in those days rotted out...

Tip of the hat to you Trucker... There I was, side of the road, 2 am off the beaten path halfway to Indiana from Ft Benning Ga. My brand new car had thrown an Alternator belt. I am up a creek without a paddle. Have not seen a car in any direction for over an hour, when a pickup truck stops...

  15. Peterson's in Nampa, ID - Up to 8% below invoice

I think you are right. Buying at 8% BELOW invoice to even believe I would need to see your contract...dealers are NOT in business to lose money and at *% BELOW invoice they would be taking a bath for sure. THAT SAID you can get deals that low or lower. I have done it and here is that story...
  16. Offroad Tips for newbie

You buy a winch to have a winch, so as your not some guy who depends upon others to get you out. So leading a trail run, on a fairly tough trail and I put out a sheet on the trail, its level of difficulty, things you bring, etc. 17 Jeeps showed up that morning and not a single one had a winch...
