  1. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

Jeep announced the Diesel Gladiator for 2021, available 3rd quarter this year. This article says you can order it now, but I didn’t see it on the Jeep website yet. https://thenewswheel.com/jeep-introduces-ecodiesel-v6-for-2021-gladiator/
  2. Longevity idea

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m just glad you guys are arguing about something OTHER than whether people should be staying home vs being told what to do, like I see everywhere else. So, thanks!
  3. Longevity idea

Thanks for this. My desire for a diesel JT is for a 30 minute commute over country roads and pulling our camper, so this is encouraging to me.
  4. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

Probably not smarter, but maybe more grumpy. Tired of fixing stuff. A couple of years ago, were on the way back from a camping trip, pulling our 30ft trailer with our previous tow vehicle when it broke down. Fortunately, we were at the last 10 minutes of a 4+ hour drive, and we were able to...
  5. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

That’s the main reason I bought mine! I embrace the mundane. I commute, it works. Haul the trailer, it works. Snow or trails, etc., it works. I prefer to save the drama and excitement for movies and stuff. If the diesel JT doesn’t pan out as reliable after a few years, I’ll stay with the Tundra...
  6. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

Man, I feel your pain. I sold my Prius this last summer and got a Tundra (while I wait to see how the JT diesel’s reliability holds up). Whew! Tundra is MUCH better.
  7. Pulling a Camper

I have a 31' travel trailer that weighs somewhere between 6,000lbs - 6,500lbs. I'd love to hear more details about your experience. We're strongly considering also getting a smaller trailer for the same reason (kids getting older and abandoning us), but I'm not looking forward to getting a new...
  8. Ram 1500 with 3.0 EcoDiesel hitting lots

Whenever a sales guy tells me something I'm not sure about, I think:
  9. Towing near max?

Yeah, I've been thinking about this since I weighed it. The Suburban is probably somewhere between the curb and GVWR. It was my wife and me, plus a couple of kayaks and a bunch of camping stuff in the back, but prob not up to the full GVWR. I think I'll go back and weigh just the tow rig with...
  10. Towing near max?

So we took our trailer out camping and went through a CAT scale. Total weight was 13,820 lbs. Subtracting 8,600 for the ā€˜Burb’s GVW, and that leaves trailer weighing only 5,220. That’s quite a bit less then the numbers I’d seen online and in the owner’s manual. But we’ve done a ton of work on...
  11. Towing near max?

Part of what I'm concerned about is tearing up the motor & transmission over the long term. I've had both Ford and Chevy versions of beefy motors & transmissions - albeit older ones - and both had trouble from previous owners maxing them out, or even going over the max. When I do get a...
  12. Towing near max?

Thanks. Yeah, it's been a bit of work. But pretty fun. And doesn't look like EVERY other trailer in the campgrounds. I've considered a Tundra for a new tow rig, but they're not made to take the top and doors off! If don't end up keeping this trailer, we'd probably sell it and buy a slightly...
  13. Towing near max?

We have a vintage '31 Silver Streak trailer that maybe weighs about 7,100 lbs, fully loaded. We currently pull it with an old '99 Suburban 2500 with the 7.4L / 454. Due to the 3.73 gear ratio, tow capacity is at 8k. Tows the trailer with no problem at all. I've lurked on a few threads here and...
