For my CB I use two antennas. The one mounted is short, reaches a little above the hood. The second is a much longer firestik antenna with a spring.
The short antenna is greatly degrading as the Jeep blocks most of it. I have no issue getting the wx and is good for around town when I don’t want...
door and ring are metal
cowl plastic
inside floppy piece that is a hole for the plug to charge is plastic with a flexy plastic / rubber ring that is easily cut away. Can’t remove the whole thing, keep some edge for spacing
It works like the gas cap. I have returned to my jeep in the parking...
that is correct unless you paint the ring (also metal) also. I kept black because I thought the paint would look rough on the already textured metal. If you are going todo all the coating I would fill the “e” in with bondo and make it smooth.
I went with a simple bumper mount. Took a bolt out and stuck the antenna in. I use two antennas: short for daily/close use or weather radio and long for off-road or when I need distance.
A decent light mount will do the same “protection” from doors.
if it is the pesky moderate sized branches on the trail that hurt your baby, get limb risers. Protects much more.
If that is the piece that gets you street cred on your mall crawler, rethink your choices.
The Oracle Sidetracks light comes black. I’ve seen them painted and it can work visually if not a solid color. The install was easy but not completely straight forward. Behind the fender is a plug for the marker light on the fender. The key is to get on the correct side of the plug (body side)...
Mounting directly to the fire wall didn’t work well. Pushed the liner too far forward and would hit if the wheel flexed too much. So far no problems with mounting just above the frame on drivers side.

Not going to add up what I spent after compressor and tank with mounts. Problem is it is hard to stop. Have a tank so I need a pressure gauge. Need bleeders and safety valve. Where to mount the chuck - new 4xE cowl and door. All the hoses and various fittings. Metal braid hose for heat? Heat...
It is both. Under the plastic faster is a push mark where I didn’t have the compressor turned and lowered enough. To the left is a cleaner hole, un frayed, unlike the push/rip mark. This is my best guess. It would need to get very hot to do that. Lines up with the silver bolt on top of the...
I just embraced the fob and went with the two keys I use 95% of the time. It has a clip I can attach to my other ring when needed or whatever if I’m worried about losing them.
I tried this mount idea and ran into clearance problems. The Jeep in the video has a sport hood which offers more room. On the Rubicon hood the compressor will hit the liner and burned a hole in it.
Going to move to one of his less desirable locations on the drivers side.
I agree, I like the...
