Thanks! I downloaded the elevation from FCA and imported into AutoCAD. Took it to a vinyl shop to cut and apply. Modeled it off a '87 CJ Scrambler my dad had in an old picture.
I also added a real CJ emblem (after these photos) for an authentic touch.
yeah the concept stripes were too beachy IMHO and a look at the copper tones in the 80’s CJ highlighted the difference. 3M 1080 vinyl happened to have a near perfect match!
Done! My favorite outdoor activity is camping and hiking trails in and around the Appalachian Mountains with my family. Looking to build out a better overlanding rig on my truck and have more off road adventures!
Here’s mine... RedArc Tow Pro controller behind the steering control panel with the knob below the climate control vent. I used 3M auto adhesive to give the knob plate a little more toughness (it seemed to be prone to “pushing out” in the long term). The panel mounted flush after installing...
Never tried. Just assumed that it was best to leave the clearance close to the same. That being said, factory always leaves a little room to go lock to lock without scrubbing... just not sure what that is. for me, going from 7.5” to 12.5” wide tires just seemed like a big ask.
I had to IOT match the factory backspacing. used spacers on factory wheels, then later bought aftermarket wheels with -18mm. if i didn’t keep same backspacing, then wider 12.5” tires would rub.
it’s been great! did some small crawls with no issue and haven’t had one issue on the highway at 80mph. I do mostly interstate driving and avg about 18mpg (21 if i keep it under 65) after getting the speedo recalibrated.
More pics to follow on a clear day, but I couldn’t resist sharing immediately. Also planning on painting center caps white or maybe matching the copper colored stripe.
Gotcha, I should have phrased it better... I meant I want to upgrade a few components that may share some of the labor with the labor required to replace the drive shaft. So, in theory, I’m wondering if I can save 1-2 hours of labor by having a non-FCA mechanic replace the driveshaft and...
Trying to make lemonade here... I’ve got an Overland and wish I had some of the features in the Rubicon like lockers (rear at least) and a 4.10 gear (or maybe 4.56 for that matter).
I’ve already gone through the online recall site and am affected. Apparently there’s the option for...
