The 5.13 is 41-8 teeth on the ring/pinion, the 4.89 is 44-9 teeth. The 5.13 will have an inherent advantage strength wise over the less girthy 4.89 ring/pinion. I would agree with his statement and that's what I chose 5.13 over 4.88 for my Bronco 9".
Haven't used it to tug anything but myself so far but the reviews were good and plentiful on Amazon so I bought it. The bumper is an EAG off ebay, love it, fit great, nice and light too. Does not have d rings but I like the style a ton.
So many great bumpers out there, be sure to check eBay as well as there are amazing deals for even under 200 shipped. Remember that jl/jt/jk all have same mounts. Some are a bit big and require removal or mod to the sway bar skid plate. I got an EAG branded one that wasn't too huge.
Winches...
I noticed mine on the drive home after the deal was done. It sucked for 800 miles but it didn't worry me as I've dealt with steering issues before.
I'd get it to freeway speeds of 60 plus, that's when mine would get real interesting. Wife's JL drives like a sports car, 90 easy with perfect...
35s fit stock and the 2" spacer by daystar is simple and actually helped mine drive better by correcting caster. Looks great and looking forward to 37s.
Likely a torque control for axle wrap but with a 5 link system and a sway bar I have no clue why you'd still need it. Fwiw I have the brackets but not the shock. Interesting. What model, features is your gladiator?
Well 2 weeks in now with 2" daystar lift with replacement lower control arms. Aired tires back to 38lb. Drives so much better, just like I feel it should. Maybe not as sporty as the wife's JL rubi that corners like a sports car but I feel super confident with it now and no more white knuckles. I...
The only mask factor in the changes is the tire pressure. All others effect suspension and steering geometry. Leads me to believe that there is a caster issue from factory in some. I'll air back up and test. Aired down before lift still had issues.
So I've had issues with the steering on mine, all over the place and including bump steer/dw. I put the daystar spacer lift on yesterday with the replacement extended lower arms and got everything torqued. It drives so much different, feels like it should on the road. I'm running 35s at 33lbs...
What lift did you go with? No rubbing with stock wheels?
I decided to go with 35s, May put them on the wife's JL and go 37s still, I debated forever about it. I can definitely feel the rotational weight difference between stock and the 35s upon acceleration.
