2 to 3 feet is a stretch, and most likely will not have a good outcome, a few inches unless the weight of the towed vehicle is pulling (such as backing down a grade) is about all you will get

Protect -a- tow is what I use to prevent crap from hitting the front of mine, still waiting on a viable option for lights, i had the one from mopar for my jk, but of course it wont work on the gladiator
