Even though I only had them up front, the Powerstop pads and rotors were a noticeable upgrade from stock. I was quite pleased with them. My Gladiator just turned over 100k and my rear brakes were still stock and pretty much done. So my assessment may not be 100% fair, as I am comparing front...
I installed Teraflex brakes last weekend. I highly recommend them. Prior to the Teraflex kit I had Powerstop rotors and pads on the front and there is no comparison. The Teraflex kit is a worthy upgrade.
It is my understanding that the lower control arms locate the axle in the wheel well and the uppers are used to adjust caster.
I think the logic here is flawed. OP didn't replace the tires with the same exact thing, he changed tire size and therefore weight, rolling resistance, etc. Changing...
I don't believe there is a specified service life for injectors. I was doing my plugs and oil cooler/filter housing so it was a "while I am here" job. If I had lower milage I wouldn't have bothered, though. The injectors are super easy to replace if the upper intake is already off, but they...
I should have mentioned in my post that I had 97k miles or so when I did mine. I wouldn't have replaced the injectors unless I was near 100k like I was.
I did it because the intake was already off. I also needed to take the fuel rail and lower intake off to get to the oil cooler/filter housing so I was in even further than if I was just replacing plugs. Admittedly, of all the preventive maintenance I've done the injectors are the one thing I...
I will add that you need to be very careful with the blue locking tab/clip that secures the fuel line to the fuel rail. Mine was super fragile and I broke it even trying to be careful. That clip is not available on it's own. I had to purchase a new fuel line to get a replacement clip.
I believe the official procedure is to inspect them and replace if damaged. I replaced my oil cooler housing when I replaced my plugs, coils, and injectors so I also had the lower intake off. Because I was so deep into it I had replacement gaskets on hand. I ended up replacing my lower intake...
Sorry to potentially thread jack... I just had my gears swapped to 5.13s and I decided to throw on the Dana Spicer nodular iron diff covers when I did my 500 mile break-in oil change. I was surprised that in the Dana Spicer instructions they explicitly state not to reuse the factory gasket as...
I'll echo what others have said. Spend the money on a torque wrench and check everything yourself.
Alternatively, find a good shop and pay them to do it. Not sure where in NJ you are but Globex Performance in Tom's River is top notch.
This is the most concise response to this question I have read. I had 35s for the last 50,000 miles with the Power Stop rotors and pads on the front (stock brakes in the rear) and the stopping power was better than when I had the stock 33s. I'm getting 37s put on today and my rear brakes are...
As was already mentioned, wander has nothing to do with solid axles. Anecdotally, I have an F-350 for work and that thing is tight as tight can be.
Not being able to turn the wheels on pavement is related to the stock power steering pump/steering box not having enough power to turn the wheels...
I know what you mean. My brother had a very early 2020 gladiator, like one of the first ones off the line. His steering was so bad he ended up invoking lemon law on the truck. This was pre-TSB and his dealership literally had no clue. I drove his truck and it was so bad it was comical. It was...
This is an interesting perspective and one I hadn't previously considered. I have a 2020 Rubicon that I purchased in the "before times" in October 2019. If I remember correctly it was built in May 2019. It's been mechanically trouble free as well, aside from the fuel pump, which died at 41k...
Someday I aspire to have a garage with a hoist. I would be much more willing to attempt something like gears if I could get the truck off the ground. Laying on my back in the driveway isn't a good time when shit gets heavy and awkward.
Yeah, body work seems like a dark art. lol. That and differential gears. Other than when my fuel pump died 500 miles from home while on vacation, I've done everything on my Gladiator myself. I never even used my Jeep Wave oil chages. I'm not about to go to the dealership and waste half a day for...
Yeah, I'm pretty similar, just a little younger. When I was a kid I would take apart my toys and put them back together. That curiosity translated into an appreciation for tools. I started working on my car at a young age to save money. Mostly basic stuff like oil changes, brakes, accessories...
