Just so I'm clear, you already replaced your BUS's and you are having the same issues or is it just that you are experiencing prolonged issues without having swapped out the BUS's? If it's the former, you need the new BUS's (the green and the tan) see my earlier post for part numbers. Remove the...
Check the two CAN Bus connectors/ports behind the glovebox. The green and tan strips. These are notorious for failing. I got a slew of electrical issues and dash lights and dealt with something very similar for months before I finally had those two CAN Buses replaced now it’s good to go.
Just a one month update. Since the replacement of the two CAN Bus connectors behind the glovebox I have successfully driven 1000 miles and had zero issues. The fix is working. Remember to specify the two part numbers I mentioned earlier since some dealers believe that the entire dash wiring...
I don’t know if the Star Can Bus banks were replaced on yours but I just had mine replaced today and I’ll report back to update if that fixed the issue. My dealer said 35 codes were present and they all were fine after new Can Bus installed!
Dealer installed the two Can Bus banks behind glovebox today and said everything looks good now, no codes! I’m going to test drive it this week and see if it all holds up. Will report back later!
Well I'm not giving up on this even though my dealership is making it really difficult. The service manager sees me as a pest and doesn't really want my input on what to do to diagnose and fix. Thank goodness for the JLForum website which actually has a lot more of these issues happening. I was...
I'm going back in this afternoon and the dealership will have the Jeep all day tomorrow to go through more possible causes. I'd like them to look at the batteries, the Star Can Bus behind glove box and the wiring including grounds. Almost every reaction I have gotten has pointed to wiring and...
Do you have a Tazer by chance or another programmer that would read the codes for you? The Tazer JL Mini is what I use and it has been useful for pulling all the fault codes for me. The one caveat is that Jeep uses their own version of an OBD2 scanner and their's is the only one that they will...
I appreciate this data on the grounds. I'm going back in to dealership this afternoon so they can have my truck all day. I have read on the JL Forums that there is an issue with the Star Can Bus and also ShadowPapa has pointed this out previously in other posts. The dealer never went through...
And then last night after 220 miles of driving…all the same codes. This is so damn bizarre! I pray no one else has to go through this and it’s really uncanny how I can’t find another example of this with any of my fellow Jeep Bros. I mean I feel like if this is the only example then it has to be...
Hey dude, sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your Jeep. I can't say I have experienced the exact issue you are describing but I had something similar which was explained to me as a software issue and they applied the fix from TSB 18-042-22. I would ask your dealer to tell you...
UPDATE: I finally got my appointment at the dealership yesterday March 23rd, and they attempted to check for codes...there were none active but they found several which were stored. This makes sense as I had cleared the codes 10 days earlier with my Tazer JL Mini (like I had done a hundred times...
I checked this out. The diagram shows this ground connects on driver side body behind the driver side front fender. This connection was tight with no corrosion or fraying.
At first it does what it always does, all the lights and gauges you see in the first video. Then the second video shows what happens when the power steering goes out as well. This is a serious issue and could result in a fatal accident if it took place on the wrong road, during the wrong weather...
Ok I’ll go look now in this area and see what up.
Just looked and everything looks fine with those connections. Plastic sleeves getting somewhat crusty but that’s it.
The ESS works because I’ve purposely slid while the light was on and I can still turn the ESS on or off and get a separate light on dash to reflect input of that.
The Service 4WD! Light also comes on and the Service Shifter light also, the speedometer goes all the way down to 0 mph with the ABS...
