I am, at some point, hoping to customize an overlanding rack like this to be hinged and mount on top of of the diamondback. Then I will complete my build:
1. Ski mode: diamondback on, frontrunner rack on, clothes/gear in the bed, 4 people in the cab, skis on the rack
2. College dorm mode...
Nice! Black badges, front protector, rear spoiler, aftermarket wheels. Still have the tape on the front windshield - I peeled mine off. Is it the F20C or F22? Here's mine - #5602.
Yes. Other mods/options can be added easily as you free up capital (e.g. the class IV hitch). Replacing a core component of the infrastructure, not so much. Alpine maybe not, but the 8.4" screen.
It makes it far easier to manipulate whilst driving. Using Android Auto make it super clear and...
That's what I did to mount the solenoid cut off and run it to the aux switches. You can't run the winch off the aux switches due to the high current, but the solenoid works just fine.
Use the forum search feature for my posts and you can find the picture of the install.
People always have things about stuff. My issue is with people that don't do their homework. How do you know if something is worth hating until you experience it?
It can get windy so far up there on your moral high horse.
This is one of the reasons I went with a Rubicon trim level. Not only is this installed correctly from the factory, using factory holes and mounting points, it limits the amount of necessary mods. It also ensures the Rubicon mods to the base are covered under warranty.
I've added a lot to the...
I broke a 1/2" socket wrench. Only tool I'd ever broken from Craftsman. I took it to Sears. Yes, Sears is still a thing - I've got 2 within 20 minutes of me. The guy looked under the counter, said "normally we have refurbed ones here, but we're out, so..." and went and got a brand new one...
This is not mine, but from this thread: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/diamondback-hd-vs-ace-engineering-upper-decker.26985/
Mounting the little tracks in the middle enable one of the tops to be opened w/o taking the rack off. I don't need that until I move the daughter out of...
Just did that this weekend. I was paranoid about it. The easiest part was drilling the holes. I just did the fore and aft tracks, not the little ones in the middle. I used black silicone caulk on the bottom of the track and in the screw holes to ensure a watertight seal.
I didn't use endcaps...
My solution is expensive, but It's going to be exactly what I need. A Diamondback hard tonneau for daily/weekly/day tripping.
A hitch mounted cargo tray with weatherproof bag for storage.
The Diamondback frontrunner rack:
Thule ski holders for winter
A scuba tank rack with skinny pod...
Yup, it's awesome when you don't have to take your eyes off the road 'cause the directions are right in front of you. On your cracked windshield, since it's a Jeep.
But seriously, bullet/rock/boulderproof glass windshields plus a hud would be nice. BMW does have a great implementation of it...
I have the warn low. I can get a tow strap through by threading it. Right now, I have my winch hook on the bumper hook, and there's no binding to get it on/off by releasing the catch. Point being I can rotate the winch hook around the bumper hook as needed.
I have size 12s, and I find there are tons of room for my feet. I even have room to stretch my feet out on long trips. I did a trip from Chicago to Breckenridge and back, then a 2 day trip from Chicago to Buffalo and back. Maybe because I used to race a manual I'm more used to pinpoint feet...
After doing some research, I'm thinking of a pair of these: https://www.gundogsupply.com/ruff-tough-large-kennel.html
They also have tie down connectors and a coupler kit. They should fit pretty well right behind the cab.
Try Northern California, Chicagoland, New York city. Tons of Chinese restaurants with Americans of Chinese descent there :)
Just not in anyplace named " (the) Great Wall"
For me the issue is highway speeds. For local low speed driving, I'm okay with just crates. When I'm driving through NE at 83mph, OTOH, I think they need more protection. I measured the bed last night, and between the wheel wells it's 44 inches. The crate sizes are 24"w, so that's not going to...
