That's what I did to mount the solenoid cut off and run it to the aux switches. You can't run the winch off the aux switches due to the high current, but the solenoid works just fine. Use the forum search feature for my posts and you can find the picture of the install.

I have the warn low. I can get a tow strap through by threading it. Right now, I have my winch hook on the bumper hook, and there's no binding to get it on/off by releasing the catch. Point being I can rotate the winch hook around the bumper hook as needed.

I have size 12s, and I find there are tons of room for my feet. I even have room to stretch my feet out on long trips. I did a trip from Chicago to Breckenridge and back, then a 2 day trip from Chicago to Buffalo and back. Maybe because I used to race a manual I'm more used to pinpoint feet...
