I was behind a heavily modded Wrangler the other day and we had to do a U-Turn because road was blocked by an accident. I got a wave, and a: "I love your Gladiator". I get waves all the time when situation makes it easy for people to make eye contact. I'd say it's 75% overall here in Florida.
I still need to do a few more checks on things with my Gladiator. I have 0.1 out of spec cross-caster. My new 32.6 in tires that are 0.4 in wider seem to have improved things. But it got hotter today (mid 80s) and I noticed I had the dead zone again. I keep saying that it comes and goes and...
So if it is out of spec is a control arm out of spec or bent in some way? Could I request the dealer replace them? Does getting a lift replace the control arms? I have been wanting to get a 2'' lift but have been hesitant to change too many variables due to the steering issues.
If you can set caster on a single side, you should be able to adjust cross caster as it's just the difference between the two sides. I have 5.2 left and 4.6 right. Is there a way to adjust it? Setting drivers side to 5.1 would put it in spec, but I'd rather it be 4.6 on both.
The tires are...
I have a stock Overland that I put slightly larger tires on. There is no lift.
The main symptom I see is that I have a dead zone in the steering that comes and goes. First I had to air down my tires to 38 PSI (came at 44 from dealer). Then I would notice the dead zone only at higher speeds...
I have intermittent loose steering. My cross caster is out of spec. The alignment docs say there is no caster adjustment. What do I do in this situation?
I was looking at this thread and noticed my cross caster alignment is slightly out of spec 0.6 vs +/- 0.5. I posted the alignment here : https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/loose-steering.16550/page-20#post-398047
I called a dealer and they said there is no caster adjustment? So...
I actually heard about the "no official spec" thing from 2 separate dealers. Several 3rd party shops also would not check the alignment because they had no specs.
Sure looks to me like they are using 2018 Wrangler JL Sahara specs from the sheet I got. Also, doesn't the supplement indicate...
I had a lot more dead zone issues prior to getting new tires.
I recently put new tires on my Overland: 265/70R18 which makes the tires slightly bigger and wider. The driving is considerably better on the new tires. The shop that put the tires on said there was an uneven wear pattern on my...
I put Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S 265/70R18 on my Overland and drove on snow in mountains of WV. I'm glad I did not stick with the stock tires. I don't live where it snows regularly, but these tires have great traction in rain and snow. They also look WAY better than the stock tires.
Took a 2000 mile trip with a Thule Force XT (large) mounted on the cross bars. Everything worked perfectly. The bed stayed dry despite near constant rain on the second half of the trip.
There shouldn't be any difference in how hard it is to lock the sides. To me that would indicate things aren't seated properly. But obviously there could be some manufacturing issue.
It is the Mopar Tri-fold hard cover. https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/hard-tri-fold-tonneau-cover-jeep-gladiator-jt-82215616
I had it installed after I bought the overland. I also added utility rails under it that I mounted the brackets to. You can apparently do it without the utility rails...
I have mentioned this a few times in the other threads. I definitely see an effect with traction control off. I'm not necessarily comfortable driving with it off though as who knows what else it screws up. One new piece of info that I just noticed is that I have a high pitched whine that...
In FL I have always used 4H in the more severe rains we get down here. There is generally oil all over the roads which are are flat, mostly straight, and in good repair. You can hydroplane like crazy. Never had an issue in 14 years doing this with my '98 Wrangler. I would not consider a...
So to update my install. I got it done. All installed and torqued to spec.
When I decided to tap it I found out I needed and m5 instead of a 6 and so the bit was smaller. I went to clear out the hole and realized it acted like a great file for the edges of the liner. I just used the bit...
Yeah it goes in smoothly for a while then it becomes very difficult to turn, so I'm pretty sure it's not cross threaded. All of my screws are this way, so I'm thinking the bed liner is just in the threads. What if I have an M6 tap? Wouldn't that be better than jamming the gunk into the...
