Found the culprit. The mechanism was popping up allowing the plastic part to slide of the locking and unlocking mechanism. I used a t25 to take the long panel off the tailgate. Then I tightened the rods and it appears to have worked. Driveway testing only. Will see how it works later today as I...

I like the setup! I have had similar items where I just cut into the rack and tapped it for bolts to go through. Not the best but it works for me at this point waiting for my tent to get here by end of July and will hopefully have it close to center.

I have been very happy with my gladiator. It’s not as much power as my FX4 had, but it gets the job done. I don’t do crazy off-roading, but have faced a few challenges and it rocked!
