I would assume no. The rails that they're working on sit on top of the tracks for the roll cover. Its really the roll cover and the tracks it uses that blocks the trail rail system points.
Well, I had the same conversation with TCUSA in Jan 2020. They were expecting the new rail system to be done with testing "soon". I'm sure the pandemic derailed things a bit, but I would be a little skeptical about the "couple months" timeline.
I also have the TCUSA roll cover with rails and Yakima rack, and I agree, the only real downside (other than price) is that the setup blocks the mounting points for the trail rail system (or anything else that uses those mounting points ie. Molle panels).
I haven't found the amount of overhang...
Yep, this is the setup I have. Purchased from Autoanything.com. TCUSA roll cover with rails, Yakima towers and Yakima Lock N Load platform. Works great.
I have a similar setup with a Canon 5D mark II and the same 16-35mm wide angle. I think you're right that the biggest issue for me has been light pollution. That and creating interesting composition and balancing lighting in the foreground. Probably just need a little (or likely a lot) more...
We were out in Ouray and Telluride last weekend. No smoke. I don't think you'll be able to get there via I-70 yet, but Hwy 50 was a nice drive. Stop by Black Canyon on the way if you have time. Haven't been up to Estes recently, but I would guess it could be pretty smokey based on proximity to...
Your photography is excellent. I'd be interested in your gear and techniques when you get them up on your blog. I'm particularly interested in your astrophotography as I've tried this in the past and have not produced anything near as good as your pics. Thanks for posting!
That is the setup I have. Truck Covers USA hard roll cover, Yakima skyline towers, HD crossbars, Yakima LocknLoad platform. The cover does open with the rack installed. Love the setup with a lockable secure cover and the added cargo capacity of the rack. It is expensive, but seems high quality...
Wow, that trailer is a thing of beauty. Love the setup. I'm definitely more interested in overlanding/camping than technical crawling and the like. Hoping the truck bed and maybe a bed rack combined with some efficient packing will avoid the need for a trailer, but that is an awesome overland...
Those 37's do look awesome. I've been waiting for AEV to release their lifts for the JT (and their front bumper). Will definitely upgrade to at least 2.5" and 35's when they do. I could be talked into 37's...
Great pics and advice. Thanks!
We'll definitely work on improving skills and experience on some of the easier local trails before heading out there, but with views like that its going to be hard to wait!
