Half a dozen phone calls with dealer. They have the part, they don't have the part, wait, they do, but no loaner. Wait, we have a loaner, but on such and such date. Make appointment, arrange child care. Receive phone call that appointment has changed rearrange child care. Finally get it all...
It has everything to do with an lsd, in that an lsd has the potential to cause the rear to break sideways traction by redirecting power to the wheel that is not spinning, which is exactly what it does and is designed to do. The poster i originally responded to suggested that an lsd might make...
Lets go ahead and end this one where it started.
From Wikipedia:
"Furthermore, automatically locking differentials can cause a loss of control on ice where an open differential would allow one wheel to spin and the other to hold, while not transferring power."...
Yeah. Open diff puts the power to the wheel losing traction, often leaving one wheel travelling the same speed as the vehicle, retaining some traction and keeping it in a straight line on the road. Closing the diff makes both wheels spin 100% of the time, leading to sideways situations.
You're talking about the light rear end getting squirrelly on an unladen pickup i assume. In that case, no. The rear axle is far enough forward that it has considerable cab weight on it, in addition to a lot of bed overhang weight. In that respect, it doesn't have the light rear end problems...
Interesting article, it lists the timeline of events leading to the recall.

Maybe it'll burn down before then, maybe it won't...
To be fair, i do drive it like i stole it..
Moved all valuables from cab to milk crate under the tonneau next to tailgate.
Practicing rapid exit/fire drills with the kids...
Fire+GAP=clean slate. Zero negative equity=upgrade to rubicon with upgraded clutch..
Buy gap in case it self destructs in the meantime. We'll all probably end up with a new clutch compliments of fca sooner or later. I'm not losing any sleep over it.
Saw this on the jl forums. Wonder if anyones showed it to the guy who's jl burned up in december '19 yet. The whole clutch basket, flywheel, everything, came out of that one.
