I know this is a Gladiator Forum but do any of you N FL folks also have other 4x4s besides jeeps?
Reason I ask is I just picked up a 1984 CUCV M1008. I sold my M1028 last year and missed it too much. Something about old rigs appeals to me
I’m in Jax too, thats the color I wanted, looks great.
I went 3.5 and 37s but ended up re gearing to 4.88s. Also wish I was about an inch lower after I did the bumper.
It definitely adds up quick! I’m at around 12k total
LED headlights
Lift,wheels,37s
4.88s, ARB compressor and lockers, axle shafts
Front Bumper
Tazer mini
Recovery and safety gear
Still a lot on my wishlist too.
I got my 35 fronts after 5 months of delays but when they arrived they didn’t include inner axle seals.
After lot of back and forth with RCV and East Cost gear they recommend using smaller seals and packing them with rtv.
My shop and I decided to just stick with the stock fronts for now
Yes, set to actual size. I rarely see 8th. And around town is a lot of stop and go, short trips. And I don’t baby it.
It does seem a little low though, especially since my 03 suburban 2500 with 33s and an 8.1 gets 11-12 avg
I have a Max Tow 4.10s, 3.5 lift and BFG KM3 37x12.5r17
About 2400 miles, mostly short trips in city. And a couple 500 mile Hwy trips at 70-80mph. The display showed 15 avg on the hwy trip. Around town as low as 13.8 and high as 15.7
I’m hoping once I go to 4.88s it will go up 1-2 mpgs.
Yes, I remember that being mentioned. Spoke with my shop rep just to confirm and RCVs are delayed everywhere. 75 days for any 35 spline stuff, and I believe 4 weeks soonest for the 32 spline FAD.
I could swap to the RD245 and retain stock front shafts as well but I think I’ll be patient and...
Dang. I need to check again with my shop. I wonder why such a delay as those should be the same as any JL Rubicon upgrades.
Those upgrades are pretty key as well. I put the cart before the horse a bit and still haven’t gotten a bumper and winch. It never ends lol
I don’t have many good trails where I live but I definitely plan on some wheeling road trips after the lockers are in. I gotta plan a vacation just to do some of the trails other people can hit every weekend
The Artec stuff is pretty affordable, I may have to look into that as the final touch...
I spoke with my shop the RD246 is already there.
I’m gunna give the one piece RCVs a shot, this isn’t my daily so it should be fine.
Worst case I could probably just swap the FAD side out for a 2 piece, down the road if it causes noticeable issues. Plus they’re $100 less without FAD
A little disappointed that i was initially told 6-8weeks when I placed my order over a month ago and now its an additional 10-12.
I hope the non FAD RCVs don’t have the vibration some have reported, as those are my only option without waiting another few months.
