Do you MTB or are you just Jeep'n?
We plan leave WV and to be out in Az around late March making our way from South Az to Sedona over a few days, then Moab and back.
My first JTR was built to roll with bikes on the outside, it was tight, compact and honestly worked well for travel.
Since we'd travel from WV to FL or out West a few times a year; the PIA part was having to drag the bikes inside the hotel each night. Or... worrying about our stuff should we...
@JTdiRtyD @DanW
We may hope to do the same, meaning, be out in Moab in the Fall again.
The weather appears similar to the highlands of WV, so in town, 40 at night, 60-70s in the day on the shoulder seasons, but intense sun.
If I may impart a little wisdom on big trips; plan all you want, but...
Finishing up on some travels out West.
Loose Trip Stats So far:
12 Days:
- 2700 road miles
- 300 dirt / trail miles
- 8 or 9 MTB rides totaling about 100ish miles
Avg: 16.5 mpg
Abq, Moab & Sedona...
Unfortunately we simply didn't remember to bring the drone or action cams, so, it's just a few...
I'm testing mine right now. My 37s have about 4k on them mostly run cold @ 36psi and heat up to about 39-41.
Since our trip to MOAB, I'm now trying out 33-34psi cold.
Experiment. LOL I've seen some others say they do it. In theory, it allows the fuel to settle as some pumps are more rapid than others, waiting a few seconds and then trying to add more might get you another 1/2 gal of so. That was not the case in the Jeep. It just clicked full.
Finally got out West with it! Did a few scenic roads and trails, only "hard" trail which apparently is easy was Fins & Things.
I can't believe how capable the truck is and at least on Fin & Things, break-over was never an issue.
Departure would have been on 2 or 3 obstacles in which we chose...
Adding to an earlier post.
Today I found myself on I44 with 25 mls to the nearest fuel stop and 31 mls left in the tank according to the computer.
That gauge quickly reduced to the fuel line resting on top of the hash marks of empty.
I was really worried since GPS still had 6 mls to the gas...
I ran mine (partially by accident) pretty low, Around 30 miles remaining the light came on,, just after 27 miles, it just said, LOW FUEL.
I drove another 10 mls to the pump. Filled up 20.5 gal.
StacysMomII is nearing completion for the expensive part of the build.
Just added the Clayton OverLand 2.5" basic lift with Falcon SP2 2.1s.
I will likely add the remaining control arms in the future, the lower fronts sooner.
Now to start figuring out how to store and pack out the truck from...
The weather here in WV is still cool, so, she’s dirty.
Nonetheless, today’s updates; Method 701 wrapped in BFG KO2 37x12.5-17s
Not a drastic departure from the OG Stacy’sMom Build, these rims proved themselves worthy of roads covered in chip stone and ice melt. And the BFGs are (in my...
I have a few things in the works, but it's been slow going living on a ski resort and seemingly never ending winter, with more snow just this past Tuesday and Wed.
I did manage to leave finally and pick up a NUSED MOPAR/JEEP Sunrider and after 6 weeks, my OVS Topper arrived!
So, both got...
