I have only seen a small amount and I think it was from me overtightening the bolts holdng it to the t track. Nothing too bad to worry about or fix though.
Been running 35x12.50 on my stock rubicon wheels for three years and never had an issue. aired up, aired down, etc. And yes, they are technically out of spec. so far i've gotten 40k miles on them and they are not wearing uneven either.
Mine quit also. I updated the firmware and it started working again. then it stopped again. I updated to the then/now most recent firmware and it started working again. then .... today is has stopped working again....
The yakima adapter may be hard to find but etrailers makes one that may work.

Thats me. Its the yakima outpost hd. I have the 60" crossbars. I used the yakima adapter that originall mated to the retrax pro cover on my last truck. It works on the new cover just fine.

btw, I much prefer the lower rack ( I have both and even at its lowest setting the taller rack is too tall for my taste.) I only use the tall one when Im carrying a raft/kayak above my cab.
Not the best pic but you can see that I just used some flat steel bar and drilled holes in it to get the awning up to clear the door (and my head). Bolted that to the original mounts on the crossbars and then just to the back of the awning using factory bolts. very simple fix. Just used...
