I used to have a PT cruiser that would do this all the time. I eventually found out it was the camshaft position sensor. I had to replace that darn thing about 10 times while i had that car. Since this is a Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler thing, perhaps start there. I think the part was only $30 or so.
