Couldn't agree more with all of that, as someone who works daily with industrial automation and vehicle software. It makes me want to fully disconnect my cars that much more.
You can't really put the toothpaste back in the tube once you trade some of your remaining privacy for the promise of a...
Just try to CYA as much as you can, record names and phone convos as possible along with paperwork.
Hopefully your (his) dealer is ethical and doesn't try to use the at home repair to pull a fast one on you (him).
It's cyber security 101 as far as I'm concerned. Don't connect something to the network unless it's needed.
And you should definitely care about who's collecting your data and not just hand it out like Halloween candy. That doesn't make someone a conspiracy theorist, or whatever the latest...
It's a shame Jeep screwed up something so simple and proven as a manual transmission with hydraulic clutch.
Still, if you do like driving manual, go that way for sure. It's fun and simple.
I was thinking the exact same thing as a fellow 02 GT owner haha. There is no sweeter song than a Mod motor, especially with blower whine.
That is a badass Terminator sir
It is more difficult actually if your fob isn't there to replicate a signal from. So yes, it could stop a lot of potential situations where someone would try to use an existing fob signal to start the truck.
There are ways to bypass anything, just like your interrupt switches. It's just a...
Thanks, that's what I was wondering. Somehow the RFID tag fell out of my Threedom standalone key (I assume I should've glued it or secured it better), so I was trying to figure out if I would need to buy a new fob to get a new RFID tag, or if I could buy one separately and program / have...
I can't and don't want to waste time stuck at a dealer hoping that JimBob put the right amount of oil in and tightened everything correctly. And I'm sure as heck not wasting vacation time off work for it.
Plus, oil changes are easy and I consider them relaxing. And I can do them anytime that...
As explained in the Threedom post earlier that answered my questions,
If you want the most secure way to start the Jeep, take out the fob battery and press the fob's RFID against the start button.
I've only had the hard top and premium soft top, and the soft top isn't much louder in my experience. I don't even use the hard top now that I don't have to worry about a bunch of Midwest snow sitting on it.
Thanks man, I just have the front leveled 1.5" (Teraflex) but otherwise stock suspension. Eventually I want to lift it another inch or so all round (maybe Rubicon springs?)
