I'd be curious to know what the "fix" is as well. My 2021 does it....but for now I just stopped goign to the one local station where it always happened.
Reporting back - I added about 3oz of the mopar friction modifier, drove around in tight circles for a minute or so and the noise went away (I'm assuming once the modifier was thoroughly mixed in and reached all the nooks and crannies of the LSD). I don't claim to be a mechanic or lubrication...
The sway bar link arm upper brackets in the rear (where it meets the frame) is a known week spot and many fail under even moderate wheeling. You can see examples in the video on the metalcloak page for the bracket. Its truly a piss poor design from Jeep...
Well....that was unexpected. I changed the rear diff fluid in my 2021 Sport S with max tow option. Having the track lock LSD I knew that the fluid required a friction modifier/additive. I read countless threads where people said "as long as you use something like Valvoline Synthetic 75w90 that...
Thanks for all the clues everyone. I do all my oil changes myself and I'm 99% sure I didn't spill any. However, I'm going to get the whole area cleaned down and keep an eye on it. Based on a bunch of threads I've now read thinks to your tips I am suspecting the oil filter housing. I've been...
Was under the Jeep just now double checking everything from the recent AEV lift install. I was laying under the front axle looking up directly above the pinion and saw a small oil leak directly above. Any idea on what this could be from? 2021 Sport S with the 3.6L gas engine and auto tranny.

- Used but in perfect working condition.

Well count me in.....just noticed this happening on the leading edge of my 21 sport s hood. Think I may wait until fall or early next winter to take it in when we have less going on.
I could tell the difference even riding around the yard...with the front track bar still loose lol. I'm a bit obsessive and the axle being very slightly off-center was bothering me....so I have a SteerSmarts Yeti front trackbar arriving today. Caught a deal at Northridge4x4 on one for $195.
Installed the AEV Dualsport 2.5" lift. I got excited and forgot to take measurements beforehand...but I definitely got at least the 2.5" even with: ARB front bumper, Mopar step-assist rock rails, and the Fab Fours Overland Rack (175 pounds by itself and ridiculously heavy). Tires are 285/70/17...
I've only ever seen a plug like that on the diff housing. If none of those plugs were missing I'd almost wonder if it has been sitting in there since the axle was built on the Dana assembly line. hard to tell in the pic but it almost looks new/unused.
Yep agree totally. This is my baby and barring an accident or other disaster plan to have it for at least 20 years......so after I hit a deer and mangled the oem bumper I decided to just go for the ARB. I've thought their bull bars were awesome for probably at least 20 years. Is it pricey...yep...
Ugghhhh reminds me of when I had to have the dealership do warranty body work (major fender rust repair) on my VW Jetta commuter car. They were sending the warranty jobs out to the lowest bidder in the local area...and it turns out that was a few dudes with some spray guns and a back alley...
Thanks so much for all the measurements and pics above...and for commenting in my AEV lift discussion thread to check out your build! Sounds like we followed identical paths...I have the 1.5" Teraflex up front and 3/4" Daystar in the rear right now and I am going to go for the AEV and remove...
Thanks everyone for all of the ....confirmation. I was really leaning toward the AEV anyway. I did contact AEV today to ask about the adjustable front track bar and they explicitly stated that it is not required for the 2.5" lift. I'm going to go ahead and order it and give it a go without...
