If one bad issue in one model of one make is enough to deter you from an entire brand, I think you better enroll in an engineering track at the closest college so you can build your own. Only way to avoid brands that have ever made a lemon or have had bad dealers under their umbrella I'm afraid.
These things are famously bad, and there's actually several iterations of the instructions with differing errors. Another error is that they picture a Hex head bold "D" in your marked up image, but no hex head bolt is provided - there's 12x Torx bolts in the parts list. Other versions had FWD...
I have a voswitch 8 switch setup, currently:
Switch 1-4: Blank (Deciding on front lights)
Switch 5: Visionx Reverse Lights
Switch 6: Winch Power Interrupt
Switch 7: 12v outlet wired in rear passenger area
Switch 8: Air Compressor
Rough Country makes one, Part: RC-10585
I'm sure there's others. Just scroll through all the bumpers on Quadratec, Extreme Terrain, Morris, whatever your preferred offroad/Jeep parts online store and you'll find more.
Yeah, the Roost does appear to be USA made, Iowa to be specific.
Agreed on the design. There are so many options out there in that style where the footprint of the tent closed is the same as when open with just one end lifting up . Other than a low profile and weight, not sure why those are so...

This thread on the install of the trail rails discusses the bolts.
Where were you two days ago when I was installing a leather upholstery kit?! It really is a stupid design. The fronts operate as you would expect - two tabs where one enables height adjustment and the other allows pulling the entire head rest out.
Weird part is I can see plenty of reasons why...
You went with the 4 person then? I'm really avoiding any full height rack to keep the tent as low as possible. I'd probably spring for the 4 person even though I don't need the space right now if it was 6'3'' and not 7'4''.
So did the dimensions of the 4 person change? Your site lists it at 7'4'' when closed, not the 6'3'' here. 6 would be perfect for a half bed rack to avoid overhang.
Just installed this today... ish. It appears the instructions were updated in June, however the kit only included 12 bolts despite showing 14 installation points (5 per side, 4 front). They depict a type of hex head bolt going into the nut insert but none such bolt was included in my kit or...
Interested as well. I'm looking at the fishbone rack as it seems to be the lowest profile rack with 3 vertical supports on either side available. JCR just looks so flimsy to me.
I don't think it has anything to do with buyers out there specifically wanting it body color, moreso that most people want the liner and thus Jeep chose to charge them for it.
Others might have sought out or ordered it without the liner in order to line it themselves.
A much smaller segment...

and 1/4" pink foam board insulation from the orange box.
Foam is tricky in terms of gluing, but wood glue and hot glue work without melting the foam. The headliner is simply glued and wrapped...
I just ordered a set of 5 mounted/balanced from Quadratec. Shipped via freight shrink wrapped to a pallet. All in all took 7 days from placing the order before they were at my door, but I'm not far from their location either.
