What I’m trying to say, and quite possibly failing at, is that most of the lag or sluggish shifting people are experiencing is due to progressive shifting from the transmission. Basically, the stock trans is programmed to shift at lower rpms and try to get to the highest gear possible as fast...
I typically start mine and let it run until it idles down to about 600 rpms before putting it in gear. When I cold start mine, it will idle at about 1200rpms and over the course of 2-3 minutes gradually drop to 600. Its easier on the motor overall. I'm never in a hurry anyways, so that 2-3min...
Thats actually reassuring to hear. I was worried that I might lose a crapload of torque with bigger and heavier tires. I was considering 37s and a 3" lift.
On pavement above freezing, its fine to run recommended pressure. Off reading is where you want to drop your tire pressure down to between 15-25psi to grab more ground, especially for rocky terrain. But you're not gonna be doing 65mph in the woods off road either.
The Pentastar bone stock on stock 33's tends to favor 7th going uphill in general, 8th seems to be its flat level cruising gear only and drops to 7th the second it detects a slight gravitational pull from a hill.

So if I'm reading this right, and I may not be, it appears that the Magnuson attempted to keep the power in the lower end of the rpm range, more like progressive shifting than choosing to run higher rpms to match with torque, whereas the Edelbrock did not. The sweet spot on Magnuson seems to be...
If 80mph scares yall, don't come to Texas. 80 is slow here and you WILL get run off the road. 65mph is suicide, you're gonna get rear-ended. :) just sayin... even the cops run 90+. For reference, limit is 75mph going through downtown Dallas on US-75. And thats not even an interstate.
There are several factors that can play into fuel economy.
-Speed (65 vs 80+)
-Wind (pushing you from behind or side/head wind or none at all)
-Drag (tonneau cover or open bed)
-Gear ratio (Sport 3.73 or Rubicon 4.10)
-Fuel grade (87, 89 or 91 octane)
-GVW (weight of occupants and cargo)...
Call me cautious, but I am the kind of owner that listens to the manufacturer when it comes to most things. If they say no E85, I am fine with that. I'm not terribly interested in voiding a warranty on a $54k vehicle that I JUST bought. Call me chicken, but it seems like a bad investment...
