This has been on the top of my list and wasn't sure about the door seal. This is excellent. The feedback I've seen from other TrailRak users has been all positive, so this is great. Appreciate the post!
Hi all,
I want to utilize the cab and integrate a rack. I've used the DeeZee rack which worked pretty well but realized it was destroying the weather seal on my doors, which I didn't like and got rid of it. I do have an Oru Designs camper and only have the front panels to work with, so just the...
No loctite. And now that I'm looking at it, there was no rubbing or gouge on top of the bolt either, maybe causing it to snap. It's really weird. See photo below.
8 foot pounds of torque for the pan and I followed the instructions for the filter which was "snug" and then a half rotation to loosen. 8 foot pounds is not a lot. I noticed that with the new gasket (the rubber one) that the pan sits a little closer to the transmission block, and I think the...
Did it one more time at around 90 degrees and fluid was leaking out of the fill hole, which means I need to stop checking and call it good. Obviously paranoid I messed my jeep up... Everything torqued and no (obvious) leaks. Funny enough, I actually snapped one of the bolts for the oil pan and...
A new day, I turned the jeep on and started running through the gears. With the car running (thanks Stan H) I was able to pump in another 1.5 quarts or so, totally just under 5 total quarts, which makes me feel a whole lot better. I brought the temp up to about 85 degrees and checked again, and...
Nope, I sure didn't! Which is why when I only went through 3.5 quarts of fluid I immediately turned to you nerds for the right answer. The forum did not disappoint.
I got it up to 115 degrees or so, went into neutral, revers, first and second, then filled a little more, then went for a quick spin around the neighborhood, turned the jeep off, then checked it again. Total fluid was about 4.5 quarts. What I'll do here in a bit is get it up to temp again and...
Reaching out to the forum for some help and guidance. I just changed my transmission fluid on my JT Rubicon with 63k miles on it. Process was fairly easy and I went very slow and methodically since I've never done this before. For first fill, I was only able to get about 3.5 quarts of fluid...
Thanks all, I did a little more research and it looks like I can just buy the filter ($45) and gasket. Too easy for me to do in an afternoon. Still can't believe the 4x4 shop wanted $1400 for this job.

I recently brought my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon into my local 4x4 shop to service my JTR Auto 8 Speed Trans and was quoted $1400. I said thanks but no thanks, I will do it myself. There are plenty of good resources out there, but I want to confirm a few things on this forum. One thing the shop...
And this is why I go to the Forums because the amount of information is priceless.
I think I have good marching orders to fix this thing.
1) Center the axle - I got plenty of good info on that and can make it happen.
2) Swap the springs - that will be a pain but will do it if centering...
I just ran outside to check. It doesn't look centered to me... I used a 4' level and checked the difference from where the rear tires protruded from the fenders. The drivers side sticks out more than the passenger side, which means that there passenger side is under the vehicle more and under a...
Super helpful, and thank you for that input. I think replacing springs and shocks is the way to go to solve this problem and (relatively) inexpensive. I think Clayton sells just springs, but that will be the next item on my list.
I haven't done the price comparison but it's got to be way cheaper just replacing coils than coils, control arms, sway bars, etc. I installed the suspension myself and it took me all weekend. If I don't have to replace the control arms, I can replace the springs in a day (I think I can). And...
Reaching out to the forums to help me out with this one.
Back January 2022, I put on a Clayton-Offroad 2.5 Overland+ kit on my 2021 JTR with about 15k miles. Currently my JTR has 55k miles on it with a good mix of highway and offroad miles. I also carry an Oru Design camper for half of the...
Mine lasted about 4 years before the main died on me. I'm convinced that the aux was draining my main but I can't actually prove that. I did try to do the aux delete by removing fuse #42 and re-routing the ground to the main, but that did not work. I do want to delete it, but I just haven't had...
I have the same setup with an oru designs camper. Those springs are stiff as hell when there is nothing in the back. It's the price you pay if you want to have a payload in the back.
If you're doing the Rubicon the San Juan trails will be a breeze. I've done Mineral Creek, Ophir, Engineer, Imogene in my stock truck. Youtube and the forums will give you all the information you need. Agreed with previous posts - these are scenic drives, not rock crawling routes.
