Also, the 99% of the 5K miles came from highway driving up and down the east coast. Unfortunately, due to work and other life events I haven't had time to do anything fun with my truck. The parts are in excellent condition.

That is terrible, I'd be mad as hell. I'm sorry you went through that. I guess these can be hit or miss, in your case truly a miss. Jeep dealerships (Chrysler in general?) don't seem to have good reputations. Going off topic here a bit...from a service standpoint, I've had routine maintenance...
