Thank you everyone for flagging the Red Line fluid!!! I just got off the phone with RedLine (great customer service BTW) who assured me that the specs on their fluid are nearly identical or exceed those of Mopar 8/9 ATF. HOWEVER, They are NOT certified by either ZE or Chrysler for use in the...
Jeep had only 19 miles on it when I bought it so doubt the dealer would have any reason to replace transmission fluid. I put a full body steel skid plate system underneath right after a bought it and it's a complete pain in the #$*(& to remove. No one would've done it without me noticing :)
Had me worried about the fluid for a second. Did little more digging and found out that ET specifically states that D6 meets Jeep & ZF specs, see comment at 7:12 of the video below:
I've also confirmed on Red Line site that R6 is compatible with the JT.
Red Line has no issues mixing with OEM...
My transmission temps have been hot for over a year now, typically in the 220’s during regular highway use and 240-260 while towing a 4,000 pounds RV. Finally decided to do something about it and:
Installed Mishimoto transmission cooler
Replaced OEM transmission pan (It was leaking badly and...
I agree with you on most counts. I ended up trading my 2009 JK for the 2020 Gladiator. I don't regret getting the Gladiator, I just wish I had kept the JK for rock crawling. I have 37 inch tires, nearly 5 inch lift kit and full body steel skid plate. That plate gets hit more often then stock...
My mistake! We drove the North Fork Road in Glacier National not Yellowstone.
https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/4086-inside-north-fork-road.html
We couldn't find any off-road trails inside Yellowstone.
They say Jeep Owners are crazy and there may be some truth to that. After being laid off and having nothing better to do, we embarked on a trek across the Northwest on a quest to obtain the most elusive Badges of Honor and show our Jeep Gladiator what life is like outside of Arizona.
After a...
Hello everyone,
I will be heading up to Colorado in August with my club to conquer the following 4 trails over a 3 day weekend.
Black Bear Pass
Engineer Pass
Imogene Pass
Ophir Pass
We will have 10 or so Jeeps in our groups, all with extensive offroading experience. For those that are...
2509S is exactly the RV I initially wanted as per my OP. I did settle on Surveyer which is basically a downsized version of 2509S. So far, we have put over 2,000 miles on it and drove it from AZ to Texas, NM and SoCal. No issues with towing it since the 5.33 gears more than make up for the...
My breaks are getting worn out and I want to replace them with something that's good for towing and off-roading on a Gladiator with a 5 inch lift and 37 inch tires. Rotors are scratched up from all the sand that got stuck in them over the past 3 years so those will need to be replaced as well...
Big test will be at the end of March when I tow it with me from Phoenix to Jeep Jamboree in Hot Springs, AR and back. If it struggles then hey that's what super chargers are for :)
Dry weight is only 4,000 pound. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to rent the same exact year/model before committing to purchase. Took it from Phoenix to Prescott, from there up to Flagstaff and back home via Payson. Those familiar with the area know that this route has numerous steep hills...
Thank you everyone for the comments! Based on the feedback from this forum, I have decided to go with a lighter version then initially planned. The Geo Pro is at 3,400 pounds dry + 1,000 cargo. Will be picking it up in Utah next week and driving it back home to Phoenix.
