I've been doing some experimenting and everything online says air up after loading and it makes sense... Kinda.
The logic is you want the suspension to take some of the load and not all on the airbags. I hauled two loads of decomposed granite at pretty much payload capacity. One I inflated to...
Well I went with the airbags for now anyway. It was a reasonable expense and if it gets me through the summer and into the fall I'm good. The shop recommended the firestone and I have to agree they seem a bit more robust than the airlift bags. Time will tell.
Right now I'm trying to dial them...
I'm not quite there yet but I feel its coming. I was in Arizona during Christmas and it was the first time I experienced the groaning Fox Shocks at 28k miles. It was 22 degrees, but today I completely stripped down the bed and the groaning came back and it's 72 deg and sunny in Northern...
Thanks for the insight...
I was afraid changing the springs would ruin the ride when the truck is stripped down. Theoretically I'm usually running the diamondback and Yakima on top with an everyday load around 175lb, so that might work.
I'll have to do some research on the Clayton's.
I've...
I have a stock 2020 Mojave that I love. The suspension has served me well on city streets as well as back roads from Tahoe to The Grand Canyon. I use my truck as a truck and I've hauled a ton of lumber high on the rack as well as 900+ lbs of concrete and gravel in the back so I know the...
Thanks All for the feedback and suggestions. The ARB Snatch Strap is the winner. It never went on sale but the price was right, it has good reviews and best of all it fits snuggly under the seat.
Absolutely! I grew up in the mountains of Idaho and back in the day we didn't have Kinetic ropes.... You just used whatever you had in the back of your truck. Which always included a heavy static rope, a shovel, usually a chainsaw and sometimes a jack. Rocks and logs were always easy to come by.
Ok I'm sold on the Bubba Rope buy why is the Yellow Matt's addition $50 more. Is it more than just yellow?
That is a great deal! But of course that AEV rope kept winking at me ;-)
That's my plan as well. I think the ARB will be a better fit with all the other stuff already under there. It's easier access on a road trip than buried under the diamondback.
Agreed! I watched a few of Mattsoffroad where he compared the ARB Snapstrap and the yankum. I really like the yankum but it's like twice the price of the ARB and quite a big bigger. If I was out wheeling with friends every weekend it wouldn't be a question. But now a days I'm mostly desert roads...
That is a really nice product although a little more than I want to spend. I'll keep my eye open for a Black Friday Sale.
I'm kind of gravitating toward the ARB snatch strap, it's got the best of both worlds. It's got some stretch but it's flat and compact.
Thanks! Everything I read tells me 7/8 is big enough but people keep saying 1 in on the forums. For me it's a lot of real estate for one of those items I will probably never use. I have a diamondback so there's always a shovel under the top and rocks and logs are free ;-)
As we head into the Black Friday deals I'm looking to add a Kinetic Rope to my recovery kit. I have a mojave and just want something for the winter road trips into the Sierras. Basically I don't want to spend a ton of money so somewhere around $100 would be great.
Does anyone have tips on...
I checked other forums and YouTube and the Optima does seem to be a bit of a crap shoot. I read several reviews where the first two lasted a year or so but the third replacement lasted years past expectations. I've never been a good gambler so I'm going with the odyssey..haha
